It feels lovely and smooth when it goes on and you can be gentle whilst still removing all traces of make up. I find that you often need to do a second application to remove stubborn eye make up but it leaves my skin feeling lovely and moisturised.
My skin usually doesnt tolerate anything regarding cleansing oils and balms well, i used to get itchy and red patches. i have sensitive, acne prone and dehydrated skin; i use make up and heavy spf on a daily basis and waterproof mascara:
LET ME TELL YOU THIS IS WORKS GREAT ON MY SKIN AT LEAST!
but i do a double cleanse, so maybe thats why some think it doesnt work well ...
it smells really nice, though i usually dont tolerate amything scented, this doesnt break me out neither makes my skin react! it resolves my makeup and mascara perfectly and fast, while not leaving my skin feeling stripped afterwards (i than proceed with the cerave foaming cleanser which would normally stripp my skin). it also seems to not last long, but i usually go through one tub in around two and a half months, so the price is ok. :)
This is my second favorite product from TBS, next to the cleansing oil. I don't really like the packaging, I would rather see it in easy plastic jar. The butter melts easily and it has mild camomile scent. Is not as effective as oil but I still like it for travel or as a morning cleanse. It can be taken off with a muslin cloth or with water and is not drying.
The Body Shop is quite up to date with beauty trends and I find that they often release a product similar to favorites produced in Asia. This was the first cleansing balm that I found in a western brand and I figured it was similar to the likes of: Banila co. Clean it zero and Erborian Solid Cleansing Oil.
Oil cleansers are applied to dry skin as the first step in your cleansing routine, the oil dissolves oil based sunscreens and makeup from your face and once you wet the oil on your face it emulsifies (turns a milky water soluble solution). The Body Shop version was excellent at removing the makeup and waterproof mascara was no match for the cleanser, however when water was added I find that it did not emulsify as much as I would have liked and an oily film was left on my face. I wiped this off with a cotton pad and saw that there was still makeup in that oily layer left on my skin, which defeated the purpose of using the oil to remove makeup.
The product did have a nice scent and was quite mild but sadly ineffective.
