I first used this for the exfoliating phase, after double cleansing, and loving the pad's gritty texture, like making sure it does it job. The formula is mild and light, and does not sting. It did pick up some of the residues from makeup and dirt, left my face feeling clean, supple, and hydrated, but I still have to incorporate my acids to make it more effective. But nowadays, I use it on weekly basis and as a toner step whenever I'm feeling super lazy but want extra effort, LOL. I also use this with the pimple patch alongside whenever I have breakouts, and so far so good, calming out the inflamation and breakouts.
I use these pads as substitute for my toner. It does help to cleanse residual dirt after the cleansing step, but I personally think you still need additional exfoliation step. I have occasional acne, sometimes it fights acne sometimes doesn’t do anything, but it never make it worse. I initially thought it would dried my skin worse, but turns out give a good hydration, too.
