tea tree oil for sensitive skin?

tea tree oil may not recommended for very sensitive skin. I used it for 10 days and had to stop using it due to eyelid irritation, itching and swelling.. I have combination/sensitive skin.
Fortunately my skin condition improved when I stopped using it. Probably should be avoided near eye area.
