I used to love this product!
Reviewed
Skin Type: combination Skin
Skin Concerns: Acne, Blackheads, Sensitive Skin, Dehydrated Skin

When I first started using this product a few years ago, it worked like a charm. It was soothing, helped soothe bug bites, hydrating, and light-weight. I used it both on my face and the rest of my body. However, recently, this product started to break me out really badly. My skin feels like it's on fire every time I apply this lotion to any part of my body. I immediately feel this burning sensation, soon followed by my skin feeling very dry. My mom at some point tried this product and told me about the burning sensation that she felt when she tried on the product, which I shrugged off as at the time, since the product was working great for me. I'm guessing my skin has changed since I started using this product as I've noticed that my skin has become more sensitive then it used to be. To conclude, I recommend this product to people whose skin isn't on the sensitive side whose skin isn't negatively affected by products that contain alcohol. But I don't recommend this product to people who have sensitive skin whose skin is negatively affected by products that contain alcohol.

It could have been better

Skin Type: dry Skin
Skin Concerns: Acne, Eczema, Blackheads, Sensitive Skin, Dehydrated Skin

When I bought this, I didn't even bother reading the ingredients list. It was so hyped up I impulsively bought it for $5.8 when I could actually buy it for a lesser price elsewhere. I used this as a moisturizer every day and I noticed it doesn't absorb to my skin that well. It also doesn't make a good makeup base and you should never apply this before any other products (for example: sunscreen) because it balls up gets rubbed off from your face. When I have open wounds from my acne, this product would sting my face. I don't know if that means it's working or if it made my skin worse. I didn't realize this contained alcohol and fragrance. I have dry and sensitive skin so this was a huge problem. I started getting little bumps on my cheeks and they slowly grew to cystic acnes. I never had acne on my cheeks and I'm wondering if it's because of this product or from the CosRX One Step Pimple Clear Pads. I used up the whole tub and never repurchased. My acne slowly faded away and I still continue using the CosRX pads so the aloe vera gel might actually be the culprit.

I really wanted to love this product so much because aloe vera is great for my skin. It could have been better if it was suited for dry and sensitive skin. However, using it as an after-sun product on the rest of my body pretty did a good job. But on my face? I don't really think so.

The consistency is very viscous and gel-like. and it is very fragrant. i like that it feels calming but there is two ingredients that needs to be noted in this product :

  1. alcohol
  2. fragrance

i am the type that doesn't like fragrance in my skincare because it might irritate my skin and it smells unnatural. the presence of alcohol is quite suspicious too. after applying, i do feel hydrated and soothed however it dries out very quickly. the humectants in the product did a good job but the alcohol sabotages the function of the humectant. i am puzzled why do they put fragrance in an already perfect formulation. i don't mind odorless or stinky skincare as long as it is good for my skin.
