I first tried this product last year because... why not? That time, I was at the point of "i don't care what happens to my face anymore" because no products from my area did anything to help me with my acne problems. So, when I saw my friend who I shared a hotel room during our other friend's wedding, I thought I should try that too.
Back to the product...
I love the scent. I was skeptical about the aloe scent at first but when the item came, it was nowhere near the ugh smell of the aloe plant.
I LOVE the cooling feeling. I really REALLY love it. especially when I put a thick mask on top of my acne, it just soothes my face. I just hate the tingling on my nose and eyebrows. But it was worth it. My face got a lot better with continuous use.
Packaging wise, i didn't like it. it was bothersome because I'm a lazy girl, and it was so frustrating to grab a clean plastic spoon... wash it... store... repeat process on the next night. It would be a lot better if this baby will be available on a pump bottle.
This is a staple in my skin care routine. It's light weight, easily absorbed and it is now tacky! I love how it gives my skin a glowy look after I apply it. At night, I use it as a sleeping mask and even though it takes long to absorb because I apply a thick layer, I like the feel of my face in the morning when I wake up. I am already on my third tub and if that does not say that I love this product then I don't know what you'd call it. :D
It smelt bad and gave me a headache.
The gel was light green in colour. The application was light and smooth and really easy to apply.
It did nothing for my body and made it really itchy. It stung too. On a plus side, it was a little cooling 'cos I kept in the fridge.
So much for the promise of it being natural. I suspect they put in a lot of colourants and other chemicals, to make it emollient. Also, I suspect some of the ingredients weren't that purified and they simply threw them in. Usage of unpurified ingredients can lead to conditions like contact dermatitis, eczema which sometimes never ever go away.
In the end, I threw it out. What a waste of my money. I think you could get pure aloe vera gel(save for some preservatives) from your local pharmacy or stores and it'd still be more value for money!
PSA: Nature Republic only has 92% Aloe Vera gel, nothing more or nothing less. Other than that, if it claims that it's by NR, you might be getting fakes. Avoid fakes.
I gone through three jars of this, but only one and a half was used directly on my face. It has alcohol, so the gel can dry quickly on your skin after application. It has little to no smell for me. I use this as one of the ingredients for my own DIY serum/essence. I accidentally left one jar on a shelf in my room and didn't use it for months, and it dried up. So the best next thing is to put it in the fridge.
I attempted using this product as a moisturizer for the face and body because that was how this product was advertised to me when I purchased it, however the gel always left an uncomfortable sticky residue that ended up clogging my pores and caused me to break out. I stopped using it, but kept the product for the fear of wasting it.
I had a few mishaps with the kitchen stove, and this gel at least was able to help me in the healing process, as well as a few sunburns I had this summer.
