Community: 15 Ratings • 11 Reviews | Other Sources: 1 RatingsI have an oily dehydrated skin. And it kinda made it worse. There was a stinging feeling every time after applying it with cotton pad. Sometimes I try to apply it by patting with my hands (just in case if it would made it any better by being "gentler"). But nope :/ rated 3 stars probably because of it smells nice of rose
Bought this because it's free from all irritants but 4 blind pimples appeared on my forehead after 3 days. Not sure whether is it because i accidentally over used it or because I'm sensitive to fragrance. After i stop using it for few days, my pimples slow down.
I initially purchased Thayers Alcohol-Free Rose Petal Witch Hazel Facial Toner because it has quality ingredients and it's alcohol-free. The wholesome natural branding of this company led me to make a lapse in judgment when I selected it. While this toner's pleasant rose scent makes the toner really enjoyable to use, it comes at a cost: It contains fragrance. My blind faith in a brand sold at Whole Foods led me to believe the fragrance in this Rose Petal toner was likely benign. And maybe it is.
But the FDA doesn't require companies to divulge what fragrance is actually being used, so we'll never know. And because of this, it's difficult to justify a fleeting, albeit pleasing, application experience when fragrance has a EWG rating of 8 and has the potential to cause sensitizing and other negative skin reactions. In fact, under the banner of "fragrance", there could be synthetic, preservative, or allergy-provoking substances in the product and the consumer would never know. I'm not suggesting this is the case with this particular toner; however, I'm of the mindset that it's better to be safe than sorry. That's why, I now use Thayers Alcohol-Free Unscented Witch Hazel Facial Toner, which offers all the same benefits as the Rose Petal version but without the fragrance and its potential to irritate skin. The goal of good skincare should be to care for your skin, so when an ingredient like fragrance offers no benefit and has the potential to do harm to skin, it makes sense to eliminate it from your products. If your looking for a quality toner with astringent properties but is also soothing, I highly recommend: Thayers Alcohol-Free Unscented Witch Hazel Facial Toner. It's excellent.
When I had to re-haul my skincare routine with products to deal with what I had assumed was bits of cystic acne at the jawline that was resistant to purging it's contents on my otherwise very pretty skin Thayers Rose Petal Witch Hazel Toner came up on a safety list of products on a tip from a Youtube channel and a recommended website that's all about fungal skin disorders/acne. The consistency is slightly heavier than water and so it's almost like a light-weight essence and so I feel like when I follow up straight away with my Vichy 89 Serum it's really locking in that 1st step of moisture. I'm not a big rose-scented products fan for my face and body fan but I know that the roses in this are beneficial and since the smell doesn't linger it's not an issue. My skin took all of 3 weeks to finally heal I don't think there's any toner more effective and elegant for the price for those dealing with Malassezia issues or those just wanting an effective toner in their routine.
