Product Description
A supercharged, lightweight gel-cream eye treatment formulated with Estée Lauder's exclusive 1-in-60 million Night Peptide (Tripeptide-32) and Bifida Ferment Lysate technology. Clinically proven to brighten dark circles in just 2 weeks, reduce undereye lines in 1 week, and deliver 100-hour hydration with a single application — working both day and night to help skin look visibly revived, firm, and well-rested.
✨ Texture & Feel
Exclusive Night Peptide Technology
Contains Estée Lauder's proprietary 1-in-60-million Tripeptide-32 to synchronize skin's natural night repair rhythm, boosting renewal while you sleep and protecting during the day.
Bifida Ferment Lysate Complex
Clinically studied probiotic ingredient that supports DNA repair mechanisms and defends against UV, pollution, and blue light-induced free radical damage around the fragile eye area.
100-Hour Hyaluronic Acid Hydration
Sodium Hyaluronate draws and locks in moisture for a plumping, line-blurring effect with a single application. Clinically proven to sustain hydration for up to 100 hours.
Multi Dark Circle Targeting
Caffeine helps de-puff and energize the eye area, while multi-fruit extracts (watermelon, apple, lentil) brighten and even skin tone. Targets all four corners of the eye area simultaneously.
FR-Defense Anti-Pollution Shield
Proprietary Chronolux Power Signal Technology with antioxidants (Vitamin E / Tocopheryl Acetate) creates a dual-action barrier against free radical damage caused by UV and blue light.
Probiotic Barrier Reinforcement
Lactobacillus Ferment strengthens the skin microbiome and improves barrier function — especially beneficial for the ultra-thin, sensitive skin of the periorbital zone.
🛡️ Safety & Compatibility
No retinoids, AHAs, or hydroquinone. However, it contains lavender flower extract and chamomile essential oil (Anthemis Nobilis Flower Oil), which some OBGYNs advise limiting in the first trimester. Most dermatologists consider this eye cream generally safe, but always consult your healthcare provider before use during pregnancy or breastfeeding.
Contains multiple Malassezia-feeding ingredients: Polysorbate 80 (emulsifier), Isopropyl Jojobate and Jojoba Esters (esters), Triticum Vulgare (Wheat) Germ Oil, Bifida Ferment Lysate and Lactobacillus Ferment (ferments), and Lecithin. Those with active fungal acne or Malassezia folliculitis should avoid this product or patch test carefully.
Contains no retinoids, retinol, or vitamin A derivatives. This makes it suitable for those who are retinol-sensitive or wish to use multiple actives without overloading the skin. The formula is also free from AHAs, BHAs, and chemical sunscreens.
Preserved with Phenoxyethanol and Ethylhexylglycerin — widely regarded as gentler, non-paraben alternatives. Free from parabens, phthalates, bisphenols, and PFAS compounds.
Main base ingredients (Petrolatum, Squalane, Jojoba) are rated 0–2 on the comedogenic scale. Wheat Germ Oil (rated 5) appears very low on the list, indicating minimal concentration. Overall pore-clogging risk is low, but those with extreme acne-prone skin near the eye area should observe their skin during initial use.
Clinically tested as ophthalmologically safe and suitable for contact lens wearers. The formula is free of added nickel, cobalt, and topical antibiotics that commonly trigger periorbital reactions.
Contains Lavandula Angustifolia (Lavender) Flower Extract and Anthemis Nobilis (Roman Chamomile) Flower Oil — used for calming fragrance and mild anti-inflammatory effects. Those with essential oil sensitivities should patch test before full application.
FR-Defense technology with antioxidants is clinically tested to reduce visible effects of blue light, UV exposure, and urban pollution on the periorbital skin. Safe for daily use in high-pollution or screen-heavy environments.
🔬 Ingredient Breakdown
🧫 Bifida Ferment Lysate Top 5 — High Concentration Hero Ingredient
Estée Lauder's signature DNA-repair probiotic complex, developed over 40+ years of night science research. This fermented ingredient forms the cornerstone of the entire Advanced Night Repair franchise. It works by supporting the skin's natural circadian repair mechanisms and defending against UV-induced and environmental damage.
- DNA Repair: A 2009 Estée Lauder patent documents its ability to help repair DNA damage caused by UV exposure in skin cells.
- Barrier Function: Clinical studies show 10% application significantly improved barrier function in sensitive, reactive skin — reducing transepidermal water loss.
- Anti-inflammatory: Demonstrated anti-inflammatory and antimicrobial properties in studies from 2012, effective even at 1% concentration for sensitivity reduction.
- Free Radical Defense: Potently protects against UV-induced oxidative stress in the periorbital zone — the first area to show environmental aging.
🧬 Tripeptide-32 (Night Peptide) Proprietary — 1-in-60M Proven
Estée Lauder's exclusive, patent-protected peptide discovered from screening over 60 million molecular candidates. Tripeptide-32 is designed to optimize skin's circadian rhythm — boosting nocturnal cellular repair activity at night while enhancing daytime protection. It signals skin cells to increase renewal, leading to firmer, smoother-looking skin over time.
- Circadian Optimization: Signals skin to enter "repair mode" during sleep, syncing with the body's natural biological clock for maximum regeneration.
- Undereye Lines: Clinically shown to reduce the visible appearance of undereye lines in as little as 1 week of consistent use (per brand clinical studies).
- Firmness: 89% of participants agreed initial signs of aging appeared diminished after regular use in brand clinical trials.
💧 Sodium Hyaluronate (Hyaluronic Acid) Mid-list Proven
The sodium salt form of hyaluronic acid — smaller molecular weight than native HA, allowing deeper penetration into the skin's surface layers. Acts as a powerful humectant, binding up to 1,000 times its weight in water. One application is clinically proven to sustain visible hydration in the eye area for up to 100 hours.
- Plumping: Fills fine lines by volumizing the spaces between skin cells — delivering an immediate smoothing effect visible from first use.
- Humectancy: Draws moisture from the environment and from deeper dermal layers to maintain surface hydration levels.
- 100-Hour Hydration: Clinically demonstrated in brand efficacy studies using corneometry measurements post single-application.
☕ Caffeine Mid-list Proven
Topical caffeine is one of the best-researched active ingredients for the eye area. It constricts blood vessels to reduce the appearance of puffiness and dark circles, while also providing meaningful antioxidant protection. Widely used in premium eye care formulas at effective concentrations.
- Depuffing: Vasoconstriction reduces pooling of blood under the eye that contributes to the bluish-purple tint of dark circles.
- Antioxidant: Scavenges free radicals including reactive oxygen species (ROS) generated by UV exposure and blue light.
- Brightening: Multiple peer-reviewed studies confirm topical caffeine can reduce melanin accumulation in peri-orbital hyperpigmentation.
🛡️ Tocopheryl Acetate (Vitamin E) Mid-list Proven
The stable ester form of Vitamin E — converted to active tocopherol on skin contact. Functions as a potent lipid-soluble antioxidant that neutralizes free radicals in the lipid membrane of skin cells. Works synergistically with the Bifida Ferment complex to reinforce FR-Defense technology. Clinically shown to provide up to 8 hours of protection from environmental stressors.
- Photo-protection: Reduces UV-induced lipid peroxidation and inflammation in periorbital skin.
- Barrier Support: Helps maintain the skin lipid barrier, improving overall hydration retention around the delicate eye area.
🧴 Squalane Mid-list Proven
Plant-derived (typically from sugarcane or olives) squalane is a lightweight, non-comedogenic emollient that mimics the skin's own sebum. It fills the lipid matrix around skin cells, improving suppleness and locking in active ingredients. Rated 0–1 on the comedogenic scale — ideal for the periorbital area.
- Emolliency: Softens and smooths the crepey texture often seen in undereye skin, enhancing the appearance of fine lines.
- Stability: Highly resistant to oxidation, meaning it won't go rancid or produce irritating byproducts over the product's shelf life.
🌿 Lactobacillus Ferment Mid-list Promising
A probiotic-derived ferment that complements Bifida Ferment Lysate by supporting the skin's natural microbiome balance. Research shows it can reduce skin sensitivity, improve barrier function, and exhibit meaningful antimicrobial effects — particularly useful in the thin, reactive skin around the eyes.
- Microbiome Balance: Promotes healthy bacterial diversity to reduce inflammation-driven aging around the eye contour.
- Anti-acne: Outperforms salicylic acid in some studies for speed of reducing lesion redness and size — useful if breakouts occur near the brow.
- Natural Preservative: Also serves as a mild preservative (trade name: Leucidal Liquid SF), reducing the need for additional synthetic preservatives.

🔄 Where It Fits in Your Routine
Apply after serums, before your face moisturizer — both morning and night. Use ring finger to pat gently. If using ANR Face Serum, apply that first, then follow with this eye cream for maximum synergistic results.
📝 How to Use
Cleanse & Prep
Apply to clean, dry skin in the morning and evening after toner and any facial serums. Use this eye cream both AM and PM for best results — it's formulated for around-the-clock protection and repair.
Dispense the Right Amount
Scoop a tiny pea-sized amount — roughly equivalent to 3 small dots. A little goes a very long way; using more will not increase efficacy and may cause product to pill under makeup.
Apply Under the Eye
Using your ring finger (lightest pressure), place 3 dots along the under-eye arc: one at the outer corner, one in the center, one at the inner corner. Work from outer to inner corner using a gentle patting motion — never drag or rub.
Extend All Around the Eye
From the inner corner, lightly tap upward along the brow bone and across the upper lid area (avoid direct contact with the mucous membrane). This formula is formulated for all-around eye application, not just the undereye.
Allow to Absorb, Then Layer
Wait 20–30 seconds for the gel-cream to fully absorb before applying your facial moisturizer or sunscreen. In the morning, it creates an excellent smooth base for concealer application.
👤 Who Is It For?
✅ Perfect for you if:
- You have visible dark circles — blue/purple or brown tones
- Fine lines and undereye creasing concern you
- You lead a high-stress, low-sleep lifestyle
- You're exposed to heavy screen time or urban pollution daily
- You want one eye product that works for both AM and PM
- You already love ANR Face Serum and want the matching eye treatment
- You have normal, dry, combination, or mature skin
- You're in your late 20s to 50s looking for proven multi-benefit eye care
❌ Consider alternatives if:
- You have confirmed Malassezia (fungal acne) on or near the eye area
- You're pregnant and concerned about essential oil exposure
- Your primary concern is lifting and volumizing the upper eyelid (consider ANR Eye Lift + Sculpt)
- You have extreme oiliness around the eye area and prefer a water-gel texture
- You're allergic to lavender or chamomile essential oils
- Budget is a primary constraint — there are effective dupes available for under $25
🎯 Skin Type Compatibility
Ideal match. The lightweight gel-cream texture absorbs quickly and layers seamlessly under any moisturizer. Provides comprehensive anti-aging and brightening benefits without disrupting the skin's natural balance.
Very hydrating thanks to Sodium Hyaluronate, Glycerin, and Petrolatum. Those with very dry undereye areas may want to layer a richer eye balm on top at night, but most will find this sufficient standalone.
The gel-cream texture provides targeted moisture to the typically-drier eye area without contributing shine to oilier zones of the face. Absorbs cleanly without migrating.
Works well for oily skin types as the eye area tends to be drier than the rest of the face. Use a minimal amount — about 2 dots — and allow to fully absorb to prevent any milia around the orbital bone area.
Ophthalmologically tested and free from parabens, dyes, and harsh preservatives. Contains lavender and chamomile essential oils that may irritate the most reactive skin types — patch test recommended before full use.
One of the most effective OTC options for mature skin concerns. Clinically proven peptide technology, HA hydration, and antioxidant protection address lines, crepiness, dark circles, and loss of firmness simultaneously.
📈 Results Timeline
Immediate Hydration & Smoothing
Skin around the eye area feels instantly plumper and softer due to Hyaluronic Acid and humectants. Silicone base (Dimethicone) provides an immediate light-diffusing, blur effect that makes fine lines appear less visible and creates a smooth canvas for makeup.
94% noticed smoother texture immediatelyVisible Undereye Line Reduction
Tripeptide-32 and Bifida Ferment begin to amplify cellular repair activity overnight. Undereye lines appear visibly reduced — particularly expression lines caused by dehydration and lack of skin renewal. Puffiness becomes noticeably less prominent due to Caffeine's vasoconstricting action.
Clinically: undereye lines reduced in 1 weekDark Circle Brightening Begins
Dark circles — across all four eye quadrants — begin to look visibly lighter and less intense. Multi-fruit extract complex (watermelon, apple, lentil) combined with Caffeine and antioxidants contributes to tone-evening and improved microcirculation. Skin looks more rested and awake even on poor sleep nights.
Clinically: dark circles brighter in 2 weeksComprehensive Anti-Aging Benefits Visible
Sustained nightly use accelerates the skin's natural repair cycle. Crow's feet appear softer, skin around the eye is visibly firmer, and the overall eye area looks more youthful and refreshed. 89% of clinical participants agreed initial signs of aging appeared diminished at this stage.
89% saw diminished signs of agingLong-Term Structural Improvement
Continued use builds cumulative results — the periorbital skin microbiome becomes better balanced, barrier function strengthens, and the eye area maintains a more resilient, hydrated baseline. Long-term users often report that their skin looks consistently less tired even without eye makeup.

💰 Budget-Friendly Alternatives (Dupes)
Shares key humectants (hyaluronic acid, glycerin), niacinamide for brightening, and ceramides for barrier repair. Lacks the proprietary Night Peptide and Bifida Ferment complex, so anti-aging depth is less advanced. Excellent entry-level pick for dark circles and hydration with fragrance-free formulation.
Contains Retinol SA + Hyaluronic Acid for line reduction and hydration. Actually includes a retinoid (mild form), which this ANR Eye Cream lacks — giving it an edge for wrinkle correction. However, it's NOT safe during pregnancy, less suitable for sensitive skin, and the retinoid may cause irritation. More suitable for evening-only use.
Uses a gentle retinol complex alongside Vitamin B3 (niacinamide) and amino-peptides. Strong on anti-aging and wrinkle reduction, but contains retinol (avoid in pregnancy). Formula is heavier and less gel-like than the ANR Eye. Lacks the probiotic ferment technology and exclusive Night Peptide. Good for first-time users of retinoid eye products.
The closest ingredient-level dupe available. Features Bifida Ferment Lysate as a hero ingredient (same as ANR), plus niacinamide, peptides, and HA. While formulated as a face ampoule, it can be carefully applied to the eye area. Lacks the Tripeptide-32 Night Peptide and FR-Defense technology, but delivers probiotic-driven repair at a fraction of the price.

12 months after opening. The 12M PAO symbol is marked on the base of the jar. Use within one year of opening to ensure ingredient stability and efficacy — especially for the peptides and ferment complex which can degrade over time.
Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and heat sources. Avoid storing in humid bathrooms if possible — the vanity shelf or bedroom nightstand is ideal. Keep jar tightly sealed between uses to prevent contamination and oxidation of active ingredients.
Glass jar with a screw-top lid — the iconic Estée Lauder amber glass design. A small spatula is often included in the box. Always use clean fingers or the spatula to scoop product — do not put unwashed hands directly into the jar to preserve product hygiene.
Yes — the 15ml (0.5 oz) size is well under the 100ml TSA carry-on liquid limit. Ideal for travel. A 3ml deluxe miniature is also available at beauty counters and Sephora as a sample or gift-with-purchase to trial before committing to the full size.
❓ Frequently Asked Questions
This product does not contain retinoids, hydroquinone, salicylic acid, or chemical sunscreen actives — the primary ingredients typically contraindicated during pregnancy. However, it does contain Lavandula Angustifolia (Lavender) Flower Extract and Anthemis Nobilis (Roman Chamomile) Flower Oil. Some healthcare providers advise minimizing essential oil exposure during the first trimester. Most dermatologists consider this product generally safe for use during pregnancy and breastfeeding, especially given the small amounts applied to the eye area. That said, always consult your OB-GYN or midwife before adding any new skincare product to your routine during pregnancy or breastfeeding.
No — this product is NOT considered fungal acne (Malassezia folliculitis) safe. The formula contains multiple ingredients that can feed Malassezia yeast: Polysorbate 80 (emulsifier), Isopropyl Jojobate and Jojoba Esters (esters), Triticum Vulgare (Wheat) Germ Oil (fatty acids), Bifida Ferment Lysate and Lactobacillus Ferment (fermented ingredients), and Lecithin/Hydrogenated Lecithin. If you are managing active Malassezia overgrowth on or near the eye area, consider patch testing carefully or seeking a specifically FA-safe eye cream formulated without these ingredient classes.
Yes — this eye cream is highly compatible with most actives. It contains no retinoids itself, so you can safely layer it alongside a retinol face serum or eye treatment (apply retinol first, then this on top). It pairs excellently with Vitamin C serums — Vitamin E in this formula and Vitamin C create a synergistic antioxidant pairing that enhances photoprotection. With AHA/BHA actives, apply those in an earlier routine step (toner or serum stage), then allow them to absorb before applying this eye cream. Always avoid applying AHA/BHAs directly to the thin undereye skin — use them elsewhere on the face and let this eye cream handle the periorbital zone.
This product is most suited to normal, combination, dry, and mature skin types. It performs excellently on skin experiencing dark circles, dehydration-related fine lines, early signs of aging, and fatigue-related dullness around the eyes. Those with very oily skin near the brow area may find the formula slightly richer than needed — using a smaller amount (2 dots instead of 3) and allowing it to fully absorb before layering any other product helps. The formula has been ophthalmologically tested and is suitable for contact lens wearers. Sensitive skin types should patch test due to the presence of lavender and chamomile essential oils.
Results appear progressively with consistent use: immediate smoothing from the first application (due to silicone texture and HA); undereye lines visibly reduced within 1 week; dark circles appearing brighter within 2 weeks (per brand clinical studies). More comprehensive anti-aging benefits — including improved firmness, reduced crow's feet, and overall skin renewal — become measurable after 4–6 weeks of twice-daily use. For best cumulative results, consistent use for 3+ months is recommended. Note that individual results vary based on skin type, age, lifestyle factors (sleep, diet, sun exposure), and the depth of existing concerns.
Apply it as Step 4 in your skincare routine: after cleansing, toning, and any facial serums (including the Advanced Night Repair Face Serum, which pairs synergistically with this product), and before your facial moisturizer and — in the morning — your sunscreen. The general rule for layering skincare is thinnest-to-thickest texture. Since this is a gel-cream lighter than most moisturizers but more concentrated than serums, it belongs in this middle-to-later step. Apply to the full circumference of the eye area using the ring finger with gentle patting motions, morning and night.
The comedogenic risk is low — rated approximately 2/5 overall. Main base ingredients include Petrolatum (0–1), Squalane (0), and Jojoba-derived ingredients (0–2) — all considered non-comedogenic to very low comedogenic. Triticum Vulgare (Wheat) Germ Oil is technically rated 5 (highly comedogenic) but appears very late in the ingredient list, indicating a minimal concentration that is unlikely to cause pore congestion. Using the correct amount (just 3 tiny dots distributed across the eye area) and ensuring thorough absorption will minimize any risk of milia or comedone development around the orbital bone.
The Period After Opening (PAO) is 12 months — marked with a 12M symbol on the packaging. Given that only a tiny amount (approximately 3 small dots) is needed per application, and the jar is 15ml, typical twice-daily users find the product lasts approximately 3–5 months depending on use. To maximize freshness: keep the jar tightly closed, store away from humidity and heat, and always use the included spatula or a clean fingertip to extract product. Avoid any cross-contamination that could introduce bacteria and shorten the effective shelf life.
Verdict: The Estée Lauder Advanced Night Repair Eye Supercharged Complex earns its cult status and premium price tag through genuine, clinically substantiated results. The proprietary 1-in-60-million Tripeptide-32 Night Peptide paired with Bifida Ferment Lysate technology represents a genuinely unique formulation not replicated by competitors at any price point. For those targeting dark circles, dehydration lines, and early to moderate signs of aging around the eye area — and who use it consistently twice daily — the clinical promise of brighter dark circles in 2 weeks and reduced lines in 1 week is well-supported by both its ingredient science and its exceptional consumer track record. The main caveats: it is not fungal-acne safe, contains essential oils that may not suit the most fragrance-reactive skin types, and the $72/15ml price point demands a real commitment. For those who can justify the investment, this is one of the most comprehensively formulated and proven luxury eye treatments currently available.

Quick Product Notes
Ever used a product that promised a certain effect but provided no results? It might not have contained any notable ingredients that could have been responsible for that promised effect. It doesn't matter what the marketing or packaging «promises» it can do, if it doesn't contain anything that can help - then the likelihood of it helping is low.
We help you identify key notable ingredients that have been shown to help with effects such as acne-fighting, brightening, UV-protection, wound healing & anti-aging to help you achieve your skincare goals smarter. Please note that different notable ingredients have varying levels of research behind them, some are extremely well proven yet some have mixed research in their efficacy.
Just because a product doesn't contain any notable ingredients doesn't mean it's bad. Ingredient Safety Breakdown refers to the percentage % of ingredients in different risk categories as classified by EWG (Environment Working Group) if they are available. There are almost endless cosmetic ingredients and they are one of the few organisations globally that have assigned ratings to a lot of the more commonly used ingredients which is why we reference them.
EWG is seen by many to be more on the alarmist side in their assignment of health ratings resulting in rating ingredients as riskier than they actually are. We recommend using this a reference point rather than a strict guide of ingredient safety and to always do further research if into ingredients that you may find suspect.
