Quick Info
Key Features
Dual-Action Exfoliation
Combines enzymatic (papain + bromelain) and physical (bamboo + diatomaceous earth) exfoliation in one step for thorough resurfacing.
Caffeine-Powered Performance
Yerba mate and guayusa extracts contain 200x more caffeine than a cup of coffee to accelerate formula performance and energize skin.
2-Minute Results
Clinically tested to deliver smoother, softer, radiant-looking skin in just 2 minutes. No downtime needed.
Sustainable Ingredients
Sustainably sourced bamboo and diatomaceous earth micro-exfoliants. Vegan, cruelty-free, Clean at Sephora certified.
Superfruit Antioxidants
Passion fruit and dragon fruit extracts scavenge free radicals while turmeric and ginger provide anti-inflammatory benefits.
Skin-Soothing Base
Aloe vera, niacinamide, and glycerin calm and hydrate skin during exfoliation, helping reduce post-treatment redness.
Safety Profile
Contains no retinoids, salicylic acid, hydroquinone, or chemical sunscreens. Low-concentration lactic acid (~1%) acts primarily as a humectant, not an exfoliant. Listed as pregnancy safe by dermatology resources. Consult your doctor with any concerns.
Contains safflower seed oil, cetyl alcohol, glyceryl stearate, sorbitan oleate, sunflower seed oil, and sorbitan isostearate — fatty acids and esters that can feed malassezia yeast. Not recommended for fungal acne-prone skin.
Despite containing some oils, this is a rinse-off treatment used 1–3 times weekly, greatly reducing pore-clogging risk. Niacinamide and aloe further help prevent breakouts.
Lactic acid (AHA) and enzyme exfoliation can increase photosensitivity. Always apply broad-spectrum SPF after use. Avoid direct sun exposure immediately after treatment.
Due to the active enzymes, caffeine, and physical exfoliants, mild redness may occur for 15–30 minutes post-use. This is normal and temporary. Start with 1x/week to assess tolerance.
Contains papain (papaya enzyme). People with latex allergies may also be sensitive to papaya-derived enzymes. Patch test before first use if you have known latex sensitivity.

Key Ingredients
Yerba Mate ExtractProven
Highly caffeinated extract from Ilex paraguariensis, a South American plant traditionally used by indigenous communities. Energizes skin and accelerates the performance of other active ingredients through its powerful antioxidant profile.
- Caffeine Content: YTTP's proprietary extract blend contains 200x more caffeine than a typical cup of coffee
- Antioxidant: Rich in polyphenols, chlorogenic acid, and saponins that neutralize free radicals
- Anti-Redness: Caffeine acts as a vasoconstrictive ingredient, temporarily reducing redness on application
Bromelain (Pineapple) + Papain (Papaya)Proven
Two proteolytic enzymes that chemically break down the protein bonds holding dead skin cells together. This enzymatic action loosens and dissolves surface buildup, revealing fresh, smooth skin without harsh mechanical scrubbing.
- Mechanism: Break down keratin protein "glue" between dead skin cells on the surface
- Gentleness: Work at a molecular level, making them gentler than acid-only exfoliation
- Synergy: Paired with physical micro-exfoliants that sweep away the already-loosened cells
Bamboo Stem Extract + Diatomaceous EarthProven
Sustainably sourced physical micro-exfoliants. Fine bamboo particles and diatomaceous earth (fossilized algae) work together to physically sweep away dead cells that enzymes have already loosened, providing a thorough dual-action resurfacing.
- Bamboo: Renewable, finely milled particles that are less abrasive than walnut or apricot shells
- Diatomaceous Earth: Microscopically porous particles that gently buff skin and absorb excess oil
- Sustainability: Both ingredients are naturally derived and sustainably harvested
Niacinamide (Vitamin B3)Proven
A well-studied, multitasking active that calms inflammation, supports the skin barrier, and helps even skin tone. In this formula, it works to minimize redness and irritation from the exfoliation process.
- Anti-Inflammatory: Helps reduce post-exfoliation redness and irritation
- Barrier Support: Strengthens the skin's moisture barrier alongside glycerin and aloe vera
- Brightening: Inhibits melanosome transfer to help even skin tone over time
Lactic Acid ~1%Proven
A gentle alpha-hydroxy acid (AHA) present at a low, supportive concentration. At this level it acts primarily as a humectant and pH adjuster rather than a strong exfoliant, helping support the skin's natural acid mantle and attract moisture.
- Concentration: Low (~1%), functioning more as a humectant than an active exfoliant
- Microbiome: Research shows lactic acid supports beneficial bacteria on the skin surface
- Hydration: Attracts water to the upper skin layers, improving barrier function
Passion Fruit + Dragon Fruit ExtractsPromising
Antioxidant-rich superfruit extracts that help scavenge free radicals and protect skin from environmental stressors. Complemented by turmeric root powder and ginger root oil for added anti-inflammatory and brightening support.
- Antioxidant: High in vitamin C, beta-carotene, and polyphenols that combat oxidative stress
- Turmeric: Curcumin provides anti-inflammatory and skin-brightening properties
- Ginger: Contains gingerols with soothing and circulation-boosting effects

Routine Position
Use this exfoliating treatment 1–3 times per week in place of your regular cleanser, on alternate days from other exfoliating products (AHA toners, retinol, etc.).
How to Use
Apply to Wet Skin
Spread an even layer onto clean, wet skin. Make sure skin is thoroughly dampened — water activates the enzymes and prevents abrasion.
Wait 2 Minutes
Leave on for up to 2 minutes (no longer) to allow the papain and bromelain enzymes to break down dead skin cells. You may feel a mild tingle.
Massage & Rinse
Add water and gently massage in light circular motions to activate the physical micro-exfoliants. Then rinse thoroughly with lukewarm water.
Follow Up
Apply your toner, serum, and moisturizer immediately after. Skin will absorb products better post-exfoliation. Always apply SPF in the morning.
Skin Type Compatibility
Ideal fit. Diatomaceous earth absorbs excess oil while enzymes deep-clean congested pores. Leaves skin matte and refined without over-stripping.
Works well across different zones. Controls oiliness in the T-zone while aloe and glycerin prevent dryness on cheeks.
Perfect weekly maintenance treatment. Boosts radiance and prevents dullness buildup. The creamy texture feels luxurious without being harsh.
Removes dry, flaky patches effectively. Glycerin and aloe help retain moisture. Follow with a rich moisturizer. Limit to 1x per week.
Can cause temporary flushing due to active enzymes and physical exfoliants. Dilute with water, use max 1x/week, and patch test first. Some reviewers with sensitive skin report tolerance; others find it too abrasive.
Not fungal acne safe. Physical exfoliation can irritate active breakouts. Best used on acne-prone skin that is not currently inflamed. BHA products may be more appropriate for active acne.

Dupe Alternatives
Rice enzyme-based powder activated by water. Uses papain, salicylic acid, and rice bran instead of bamboo. Gentler formula suitable for daily use and sensitive skin. Lacks the caffeine boost and physical grit of the YTTP formula but delivers similar brightening and smoothing results.
Three-in-one pumpkin enzyme mask with AHA and aluminum oxide crystals. Much larger size at a similar price point. Contains retinol (not pregnancy safe). Stronger formula that may cause more tingling. Better for mature skin concerns like fine lines.

Clinic-inspired exfoliator with lactic acid, salicylic acid, and papaya/pineapple enzymes. More aggressive formula with BHA (not pregnancy safe). Higher price point for the same 2 oz size. Contains silica beads, honey, and aloe for smoothing.
Japanese rice bran enzyme powder that foams on contact with water. Much gentler approach — daily-use formula without physical scrub particles. Better for sensitive skin but less dramatic immediate results. Elegant powder format that's great for travel.

Product Overview
Quick product notes are a great way to check if a product is free from commonly avoided ingredients by skincare enthusiasts. These preferences come about for different reasons depending on the ingredient such as personal experiences, sensitivities, health preferences & etc.
Just because a product is not free from a common preference does not mean it's a bad product! You can make a personal decision whether or not you want to use a product that contains these ingredients or not - click the labels of the preference to read more about them.
Quick Product Notes
Ever used a product that promised a certain effect but provided no results? It might not have contained any notable ingredients that could have been responsible for that promised effect. It doesn't matter what the marketing or packaging «promises» it can do, if it doesn't contain anything that can help - then the likelihood of it helping is low.
We help you identify key notable ingredients that have been shown to help with effects such as acne-fighting, brightening, UV-protection, wound healing & anti-aging to help you achieve your skincare goals smarter. Please note that different notable ingredients have varying levels of research behind them, some are extremely well proven yet some have mixed research in their efficacy.
Just because a product doesn't contain any notable ingredients doesn't mean it's bad. And a product with notable ingredients (or even many) doesn't necessarily guarantee the efficacy of the product performing these effects either. There are other factors such as ingredient quality, concentration and formulation that will ultimately determine this.
Be smart and use this as just a starting point for you to make more informed and smarter choices and compare it with reviews to see if the product is right for you

Ingredient Safety Breakdown refers to the percentage % of ingredients in different risk categories as classified by EWG (Environment Working Group) if they are available. There are almost endless cosmetic ingredients and they are one of the few organisations globally that have assigned ratings to a lot of the more commonly used ingredients which is why we reference them.
EWG is seen by many to be more on the alarmist side in their assignment of health ratings resulting in rating ingredients as riskier than they actually are. We recommend using this a reference point rather than a strict guide of ingredient safety and to always do further research if into ingredients that you may find suspect.
