How to use

HOW TO USE
1

Apply to Dry Skin

Dispense a suitable amount of cleansing oil onto dry hands. Apply to a completely dry face — wet hands or skin will reduce the oil's ability to dissolve makeup.

2

Massage Gently

Using circular motions, gently massage the oil across your entire face for 30-60 seconds. Focus on areas with heavier makeup, sunscreen, or congestion. Safe to use around the eye area.

3

Emulsify with Water

Add a small splash of lukewarm water to your face and continue massaging. The oil will transform into a milky white emulsion, lifting away dissolved impurities.

4

Rinse Thoroughly

Rinse your face thoroughly with lukewarm water until all residue is removed. Follow with your water-based cleanser for a complete double cleanse, or use alone on lighter days.

Frequently asked questions

FAQ

Yes. This cleansing oil does not contain retinoids, salicylic acid, hydroquinone, chemical sunscreens, or any other ingredients commonly flagged as unsafe during pregnancy or breastfeeding. All 22 ingredients are considered safe for use during pregnancy. However, always consult your healthcare provider if you have specific concerns about any skincare product.

Use with caution. While the formula is free from traditional oils, fatty acids, and ferments, the primary ingredient PEG-7 Glyceryl Cocoate is a PEG-based emulsifier derived from coconut oil that may potentially feed malassezia yeast. If you have active fungal acne, it is best to patch test first or choose a confirmed FA-safe cleanser instead.

Absolutely. As a rinse-off cleanser, this product does not remain on the skin, so there are no interaction concerns with active ingredients applied afterward. You can safely use it before retinol, vitamin C serums, AHAs (glycolic acid, lactic acid), and BHAs (salicylic acid). In fact, thorough cleansing helps these actives penetrate more effectively.

This cleanser is formulated for all skin types but performs best on oily, combination, and normal skin thanks to its Zinc PCA and Niacinamide content that help regulate sebum. Dry skin types will benefit from the Glycerin and Panthenol but may want to follow with a richer moisturizer. Those with very sensitive or compromised skin barriers should patch test first due to the Sodium C14-16 Olefin Sulfonate surfactant.

Makeup and sunscreen removal results are immediate from the first use. Improved skin texture and fewer clogged pores are typically noticed within 1-2 weeks of daily use. Sebum-balancing effects from Zinc PCA have been clinically shown to become significant after 28 days. Niacinamide's brightening and barrier-strengthening benefits accumulate over 4-8 weeks of consistent use.

This cleansing oil should be the very first step in your evening (PM) skincare routine, applied to dry skin before any other products. In a double-cleanse routine, use it first to dissolve oil-based impurities (makeup, sunscreen, sebum), then follow with a water-based cleanser. After cleansing, continue with toner, serums, moisturizer, and any other treatments.

This cleanser has a very low comedogenic risk, rated approximately 1 out of 5. No known comedogenic ingredients were detected in the formula. Glycerin (comedogenicity: 0) and Panthenol (comedogenicity: 0) are the key moisturizing ingredients, both of which are non-pore-clogging. As a rinse-off product, even ingredients with mild comedogenic potential have minimal time on the skin.

The product has an estimated Period After Opening (PAO) of 12 months. At a 400 ml bottle size with daily use (approximately 2-3 ml per application), one bottle should last 4-6 months. Store in a cool, dry place with the cap tightly sealed. Discard if the product changes color, texture, or develops an unusual odor.

— Skincarisma verdict
3.8 / 5 ★★★★☆

Verdict: Maruderm Gentle Moisturizing Cleansing Oil delivers exceptional value with its generous 400 ml size and an ingredient list that goes beyond basic cleansing. The inclusion of Niacinamide (2.7-4%) and Zinc PCA elevates it from a simple makeup remover to a treatment cleanser that actively works on skin health. It excels for oily, combination, and normal skin types seeking an affordable, fragrance-free first cleanser. However, the presence of Sodium C14-16 Olefin Sulfonate (a harsher surfactant) and the PEG-7 base that may not be fungal acne safe prevent it from being a universal recommendation. For the price point, it is hard to beat as a daily workhorse cleanser — just be mindful of your skin's sensitivity level.

lightbulb What are Notable Effects & Ingredients?

Ever used a product that promised a certain effect but provided no results? It might not have contained any notable ingredients that could have been responsible for that promised effect. It doesn't matter what the marketing or packaging «promises» it can do, if it doesn't contain anything that can help - then the likelihood of it helping is low.

We help you identify key notable ingredients that have been shown to help with effects such as acne-fighting, brightening, UV-protection, wound healing & anti-aging to help you achieve your skincare goals smarter. Please note that different notable ingredients have varying levels of research behind them, some are extremely well proven yet some have mixed research in their efficacy.

muscle Pro Tip Alert!

Just because a product doesn't contain any notable ingredients doesn't mean it's bad. And a product with notable ingredients (or even many) doesn't necessarily guarantee the efficacy of the product performing these effects either. There are other factors such as ingredient quality, concentration and formulation that will ultimately determine this.

lightbulb What is the Ingredient Safety Breakdown?

Ingredient Safety Breakdown refers to the percentage % of ingredients in different risk categories as classified by EWG (Environment Working Group) if they are available. There are almost endless cosmetic ingredients and they are one of the few organisations globally that have assigned ratings to a lot of the more commonly used ingredients which is why we reference them.

muscle Pro Tip Alert!

EWG is seen by many to be more on the alarmist side in their assignment of health ratings resulting in rating ingredients as riskier than they actually are. We recommend using this a reference point rather than a strict guide of ingredient safety and to always do further research if into ingredients that you may find suspect.
