Safety & compatibility
SAFEContains no retinoids, salicylic acid, hydroquinone, chemical sunscreens, or other pregnancy-contraindicated ingredients. All 12 ingredients are botanical plant oils and extracts considered safe during pregnancy and nursing. Always consult your healthcare provider.
The formula does not contain ferments, polysorbates, or problematic esters that feed Malassezia yeast. Jojoba Oil is a liquid wax, not a true oil, and is considered fungal acne safe. Camellia and Squalane are both well-tolerated by fungal acne-prone skin.
Key oils — Jojoba (0), Squalane (0–1), Watermelon (0–1), and Sunflower (0–2) — are all low on the comedogenicity scale. Rosehip Oil rates around 1. This ampoule is highly unlikely to clog pores for most skin types.
Free of parabens, sulfates, phthalates, synthetic fragrances, artificial dyes, and alcohol. Blue Tansy is a renowned anti-inflammatory botanical that actively soothes reactive and redness-prone skin.
Jasminum Sambac Flower Extract, while natural, is a known potential allergen for those with floral sensitivities. Individuals with known jasmine allergies should perform a patch test before full-face application.
No pH-conflicting acids or actives present. This oil-based ampoule pairs well with water-based serums (apply water-based layers first), vitamin C serums, and retinol — the antioxidant-rich oils may help mitigate retinol sensitivity.
The 100% anhydrous (water-free) oil-based formula eliminates the need for traditional preservatives, reducing potential irritation. Vitamin E (Tocopherol) acts as a natural antioxidant stabilizer.
Non-comedogenic, free of pore-clogging heavy waxes or butters. Spirulina has documented antibacterial properties that help inhibit acne-causing bacteria, making it suitable for breakout-prone skin.

Where it fits in your routine
ROUTINEApply after water-based serums, before moisturizer. Can be used AM and PM. Can also be mixed directly into your moisturizer for a brightening boost.
How to use
HOW TO USECleanse Thoroughly
Begin with clean, dry skin. Double cleanse in the evening to remove sunscreen and makeup residue for maximum absorption of the ampoule's botanical actives.
Apply Water-Based Layers First
If using a toner, essence, or water-based serum (e.g., hyaluronic acid, niacinamide), apply and allow it to fully absorb before proceeding. Oil-based products are always applied after water-based ones.
Dispense 2–3 Drops
Shake gently before use. Dispense 2–3 drops (or more for a concentrated treatment) into clean palms or directly onto fingertips. A little goes a long way with this potent formula.
Press & Massage Into Skin
Gently press the ampoule into skin using fingertips, working from the center of the face outward. Then massage in small circular motions until fully absorbed. Extend to neck and décolletage if desired.
Seal with Moisturizer
Follow immediately with your moisturizer to seal in the botanical oils and support barrier function. In the morning, always finish with a broad-spectrum SPF 30+ sunscreen.
Optional: Blend with Moisturizer
For a more streamlined routine, mix 2–3 drops directly into your moisturizer or toner before applying. This is Earth Harbor's recommended "daily skincare cocktail" method.

Skin type compatibility
SKIN TYPESAn ideal maintenance and glow-enhancing treatment; balances skin while delivering meaningful antioxidant protection and radiance.
The rich botanical oil blend deeply nourishes and replenishes moisture levels. Best used before a heavier moisturizer to seal in hydration for very dry skin.
Jojoba, Squalane, and Watermelon oils mimic sebum and help signal the skin to produce less oil. Use 2 drops max; oilier skin types may prefer PM-only use.
Blue Tansy's chamazulene actively calms inflammation and redness. Free of all synthetic irritants. Patch test for jasmine extract sensitivity before full use.
Non-comedogenic rating of 1/5. Fungal acne safe formula. Spirulina provides antibacterial support. High-linoleic oils help normalize sebum and reduce breakout frequency.
Rosehip's natural retinoid precursors, Vitamin E, and antioxidant-rich oils support collagen and combat free radical damage, but those seeking potent retinol-level results may want to pair with a dedicated retinoid.

Budget-friendly alternatives (dupes)
DUPESShares the squalane base for hydration and barrier repair, but lacks the full botanical complex (Blue Tansy, Spirulina, Rosehip). Great as a pure hydration layer but won't provide the same brightening or anti-redness benefits.
Shares the rosehip seed oil brightening action and organic certification. A single-ingredient oil lacking Blue Tansy's calming complex and Spirulina's microbiome-supporting actives. Better for targeted scarring; Marina is more holistic.
Shares Blue Tansy and the ocean-blue aesthetic with a similar clean-beauty ethos. Lapis is richer in Blue Tansy but contains fewer brightening actives (no Spirulina, Rosehip, or Blueberry Seed). Actually slightly pricier than Marina for comparable size.

SIDE-BY-SIDEStorage & shelf life
12 MONTHS12 months after opening. The anhydrous formula and Tocopherol (Vitamin E) stabilizer extend shelf life, but botanical oils can oxidize over time. Discard if the oil darkens, smells rancid, or changes consistency.
Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and heat. Avoid storing in a steamy bathroom. For maximum freshness, store in a cool cabinet or skincare fridge (optional but extends longevity of volatile botanicals).
Amber glass dropper bottle (protects oils from UV degradation). Closures use 50% PCR (post-consumer recycled) plastic. 100% recyclable glass container. Earth Harbor participates in Pact Collective mail-back recycling for pumps and droppers.
Yes — 30 mL / 1 fl oz is TSA-compliant and under the 100 mL carry-on liquid limit. Store upright in travel to prevent dropper leakage. Available in a mini 10 mL size for easier travel.
Frequently asked questions
FAQYes — the Marina Biome Brightening Ampoule is considered safe for use during pregnancy and breastfeeding. The formula contains no retinoids, salicylic acid, hydroquinone, chemical sunscreens, parabens, or other ingredients typically cautioned against during pregnancy. It is composed entirely of certified organic and non-GMO plant oils and botanical extracts. Jasmine flower extract is present in trace amounts; if you have sensitivities or concerns, consult your OB-GYN or midwife before use. As always, patch test any new skincare product when pregnant.
Yes — the Marina Biome Ampoule is considered fungal acne safe. The formula does not contain fermented ingredients, polysorbates, or long-chain fatty acid esters that are known to feed Malassezia yeast. Jojoba Oil is technically a liquid wax ester (not a fatty acid triglyceride) and is widely accepted as fungal acne safe. Caprylic/Capric Triglycerides, while coconut-derived, are medium-chain purified esters and are generally not associated with fungal acne flare-ups. All other oils (Squalane, Camellia, Blueberry, Sunflower, Watermelon, Rosehip) are considered safe for Malassezia-prone skin at typical cosmetic use levels.
Yes, the Marina Ampoule pairs well with most active skincare ingredients. As an oil-based product, always apply it after water-based actives like Vitamin C serums, niacinamide, AHAs, or BHAs — not before. The formula's antioxidant-rich oils (especially Tocopherol and Blueberry Seed Oil) may help offset irritation sometimes associated with retinol use. For AHAs/BHAs, apply your acid toner first, allow it to absorb fully, then apply Marina. There are no pH-conflicting ingredients or known antagonistic interactions. Rosehip Oil in the formula also contains natural retinoid precursors, which complement — rather than conflict with — topical vitamin A treatments.
Earth Harbor states the Marina Ampoule is suitable for all skin types, and in practice it excels most for dry, sensitive, reactive, combination, and hyperpigmentation-prone skin. Those with very oily skin may prefer using it only at night or mixing a single drop into their moisturizer rather than applying directly. Acne-prone and fungal acne-prone skin types benefit greatly from the non-comedogenic, microbiome-supporting formula. It is particularly recommended for skin experiencing redness, dullness, post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation, or uneven tone.
Many users report an immediate improvement in glow, softness, and redness within the first application. For skin texture and hydration improvements, most users notice a meaningful difference within 1–2 weeks of daily use. Visible brightening of dull skin and reduction of post-acne redness typically appears within 3–4 weeks. Fading of established dark spots and hyperpigmentation requires consistent daily use over 6–12 weeks, especially when combined with daily broad-spectrum SPF 30+ sunscreen. Results vary depending on individual skin type, consistency of use, and the severity of discoloration.
Apply the Marina Biome Brightening Ampoule after cleansing, toning, and any water-based serums, and before your moisturizer. The general rule is thinnest-to-thickest and water-based before oil-based. In the morning routine: Cleanser → Toner → Water Serum (e.g., Vitamin C or HA) → Marina Ampoule → Moisturizer → SPF. In the evening: Double Cleanser → Toner → Treatment Serum → Marina Ampoule → Moisturizer. Alternatively, mix 2–3 drops directly into your moisturizer to streamline your routine. It can be used twice daily (AM and PM).
No — the Marina Ampoule has a low comedogenic rating of approximately 1 out of 5. Its key oils are all low on the comedogenicity scale: Squalane (0–1), Jojoba (0), Watermelon Oil (0–1), Sunflower Oil (0–2), and Rosehip Oil (1). None of the 12 ingredients are considered likely to clog pores for most people. Spirulina also has documented antibacterial properties that can help keep pores clear. That said, individual responses vary — if you have extremely acne-prone skin, start with a small amount and observe for 1–2 weeks.
The Marina Biome Ampoule has a Period After Opening (PAO) of 12 months. Because the formula is anhydrous (water-free) and stabilized by Tocopherol (Vitamin E), it is naturally resistant to microbial growth and oxidation. However, to preserve the integrity of the volatile botanical oils (especially Blue Tansy and Rosehip), store it in a cool, dark place away from heat, light, and steam. Discard if you notice any change in smell (rancid or off notes), color darkening beyond the natural blue, or altered texture. A 30 mL bottle with 2–3 drops per use will typically last 2–4 months with twice-daily use.
Verdict: The Earth Harbor Marina Biome Brightening Ampoule is a standout clean-beauty facial oil that delivers on its promises. With 12 certified organic and non-GMO botanical actives — led by Green Tea Seed Oil, Squalane, Rosehip, Spirulina, and Blue Tansy — it provides genuine brightening, anti-inflammatory, and microbiome-supporting benefits without a single synthetic ingredient. The formula is pregnancy-safe, fungal acne-safe, non-comedogenic, and free from all common skin irritants. Particularly excellent for sensitive, reactive, hyperpigmented, and redness-prone skin. The only caveats are the natural herbal-floral scent (not for the fragrance-sensitive) and the modest 1 fl oz size relative to the price point. For those committed to clean, sustainable beauty that actually works, Marina is one of the most thoughtfully formulated brightening ampoules available at this price tier.

Ever used a product that promised a certain effect but provided no results? It might not have contained any notable ingredients that could have been responsible for that promised effect. It doesn't matter what the marketing or packaging «promises» it can do, if it doesn't contain anything that can help - then the likelihood of it helping is low.

Ingredient Safety Breakdown refers to the percentage % of ingredients in different risk categories as classified by EWG (Environment Working Group) if they are available. There are almost endless cosmetic ingredients and they are one of the few organisations globally that have assigned ratings to a lot of the more commonly used ingredients which is why we reference them.
EWG is seen by many to be more on the alarmist side in their assignment of health ratings resulting in rating ingredients as riskier than they actually are. We recommend using this a reference point rather than a strict guide of ingredient safety and to always do further research if into ingredients that you may find suspect.
