Vichy Pureté Thermale Gel Facial Cleanser
A gentle, soap-free gel cleanser enriched with Vichy Volcanic Water and Glycerin that removes impurities, makeup and pollution without stripping or tightening skin. Dermatologist-tested and suitable for sensitive skin and eyes.
Vichy Volcanic Water
Sourced from French volcanoes, enriched with 15 essential minerals to strengthen and protect the skin barrier against environmental stressors.
Soap-Free Gentle Cleansing
Amino acid-based surfactants (Sodium Cocoyl Glycinate) cleanse effectively without disrupting the skin's natural moisture balance.
No Tight or Dry Feeling
Glycerin and Panthenol work together to retain moisture during cleansing, leaving skin comfortable and soft after rinsing.
Anti-Pollution Defense
Moringa Seed Extract (Purisoft) helps reduce the adhesion of pollution particles on the skin surface for a thorough city-proof cleanse.
Safe for Eyes
Ophthalmologist-tested formula is gentle enough to use near the delicate eye area without stinging or irritation.
pH 5.5 Balanced
Skin-identical pH level preserves the acid mantle and supports a healthy microbiome, ideal for sensitive and reactive skin types.
Glycerin ~5-8%Proven
A powerful humectant naturally found in the skin. Glycerin draws moisture from the environment into the outer skin layers, keeping the skin hydrated even during cleansing. It prevents the tight, stripped feeling common with gel cleansers.
- Function: Humectant, skin-identical moisturizer
- Research: Effective at concentrations as low as 3%, with increased barrier benefits up to 20-40%
- Comedogenic Rating: 0 — will not clog pores
Vichy Volcanic Water EnrichedProven
Mineral-rich thermal spring water drawn from deep volcanic sources in Vichy, France. Contains 15 rare minerals clinically shown to strengthen the skin barrier and protect against pollution and UV damage.
- Key Minerals: Calcium, Magnesium, Iron, Manganese, Bicarbonates and more
- Clinical: Clinically proven to reinforce the skin's natural defenses
- Benefit: Anti-oxidant and soothing properties reduce sensitivity
Moringa Seed Extract (Purisoft)Promising
A botanical extract derived from Moringa Oleifera seeds, known for their remarkable ability to purify water. On the skin, it helps reduce the adhesion of pollution micro-particles, acting as an anti-pollution shield.
- Source: Moringa Pterygosperma seeds — also used in water purification
- Function: Anti-pollution, antioxidant, anti-inflammatory
- Benefit: Rich in tocopherols and proteins to nourish the skin
Panthenol (Vitamin B5) ~0.5-2%Proven
The provitamin form of B5 that penetrates the skin and converts to pantothenic acid. It attracts and retains moisture, soothes irritation, and supports the skin's natural repair processes.
- Function: Moisturizer, skin protectant, anti-inflammatory
- Research: Proven to improve skin barrier function, hydration, and reduce redness
- Benefit: Accelerates epithelial cell regeneration and wound healing
Coco-BetaineProven
A mild, naturally derived amphoteric surfactant from coconut oil. It creates a gentle, non-irritating lather that cleanses without stripping the skin's protective lipid layer. Milder than SLS/SLES alternatives.
- Source: Coconut-derived, natural version of Cocamidopropyl Betaine
- Function: Gentle primary surfactant
- Advantage: Lower irritation potential compared to sulfate-based surfactants
Sodium Cocoyl GlycinateProven
An amino acid-based surfactant known for its extreme mildness. It provides effective cleansing while maintaining the skin's natural pH and moisture. Preferred in formulas designed for sensitive and baby skin.
- Type: Amino acid surfactant (glycine-based)
- pH: Naturally acidic, helps maintain the skin's acid mantle
- Irritancy: One of the gentlest surfactants available
This cleanser is free from retinoids, hydroquinone, chemical sunscreens, and high-concentration salicylic acid. The gentle, fragrance-free formula is considered safe for use during pregnancy and breastfeeding. Always consult your healthcare provider for personalized advice.
The formula contains Lauric Acid, a fatty acid that can potentially feed Malassezia yeast. However, as a rinse-off product with short skin contact time, the risk is significantly reduced. Those with active fungal acne may still wish to avoid it or patch test first.
Clinically tested and labeled non-comedogenic by the brand. Glycerin (comedogenic: 0) and mild surfactants keep pore-clogging risk minimal. Lauric Acid can score high in comedogenicity tests, but its presence in a rinse-off formula mitigates this concern.
Dermatologist and ophthalmologist tested. The fragrance-free, paraben-free, soap-free formula is designed for sensitive skin and has been allergy-tested. Suitable for use around the eye area.
Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. Period After Opening (PAO) is 12 months. Close the cap tightly after each use to prevent contamination and maintain formula integrity.
Wet Your Face
Splash your face with lukewarm water. Avoid using hot water as it can strip natural oils and cause irritation, especially on sensitive skin.
Apply a Small Amount
Squeeze a pea-to-dime sized amount of gel onto your fingertips. A little goes a long way — the formula is highly concentrated.
Massage in Circular Motions
Gently massage onto wet skin starting from the chin, moving toward the nose, cheeks, and forehead. Avoid the eye contour area. The gel will transform into a rich, airy lather.
Rinse Thoroughly & Pat Dry
Rinse with lukewarm water until all residue is removed. Pat skin dry with a soft towel — do not rub. Follow immediately with toner or serum while skin is still slightly damp.
Specifically formulated for sensitive skin. Fragrance-free, soap-free, hypoallergenic with Vichy Volcanic Water to soothe and protect. Ophthalmologist-tested for use near eyes.
Perfect everyday cleanser that maintains skin's natural balance. Removes impurities and makeup without over-cleansing or disrupting the moisture barrier.
Balanced cleansing power that removes excess oil in the T-zone without drying out cheeks. The pH 5.5 formula respects all facial zones equally.
Provides thorough cleansing of sebum and pollution. Very oily skin types may prefer a more mattifying cleanser, but this works well for daily gentle cleansing without rebound oil production.
Glycerin and Panthenol help retain moisture during cleansing. However, very dry skin types may occasionally experience some tightness and should follow up immediately with a rich moisturizer.
Non-comedogenic formula won't clog pores. Does not contain active acne-fighting ingredients but provides a clean, gentle base that pairs well with acne treatments in subsequent steps.
Immediate Clean & Fresh Feeling
Skin feels thoroughly cleansed, soft, and refreshed without any tightness or dryness. Makeup and surface impurities are fully removed.

90% noticedStrengthened Skin Barrier
The consistent mineral enrichment from Vichy Volcanic Water contributes to a stronger moisture barrier. Skin appears more resilient to pollution and environmental stressors, with fewer breakouts from clogged pores.
75% noticedAnother French pharmacy gel cleanser with Niacinamide and Ceramide. Slightly more foaming texture. Also dermatologist-tested for sensitive skin. Lacks the unique Vichy Volcanic Water mineral complex but adds Ceramide for barrier support.
Nearly double the size (473ml) for the same price. Contains Ceramides, Niacinamide, and Hyaluronic Acid for barrier repair. Slightly more stripping for very sensitive skin. No mineral water or anti-pollution ingredients. Contains parabens.
French pharmacy micellar gel cleanser designed for sensitive skin. Soap-free, pH 5.5 balanced. Lighter lather and more minimalist formula. Lacks Moringa anti-pollution benefits and Vichy Volcanic Water minerals but is exceptionally gentle.
A budget-friendly creamy cleanser that is very gentle. Non-foaming texture differs from this gel formula. Contains fewer active skincare ingredients — no anti-pollution or mineral benefits — but is very effective for basic gentle cleansing at a lower price point.

Product Overview
Quick product notes are a great way to check if a product is free from commonly avoided ingredients by skincare enthusiasts. These preferences come about for different reasons depending on the ingredient such as personal experiences, sensitivities, health preferences & etc.
Just because a product is not free from a common preference does not mean it's a bad product! You can make a personal decision whether or not you want to use a product that contains these ingredients or not - click the labels of the preference to read more about them.
Quick Product Notes
Ever used a product that promised a certain effect but provided no results? It might not have contained any notable ingredients that could have been responsible for that promised effect. It doesn't matter what the marketing or packaging «promises» it can do, if it doesn't contain anything that can help - then the likelihood of it helping is low.
We help you identify key notable ingredients that have been shown to help with effects such as acne-fighting, brightening, UV-protection, wound healing & anti-aging to help you achieve your skincare goals smarter. Please note that different notable ingredients have varying levels of research behind them, some are extremely well proven yet some have mixed research in their efficacy.
Just because a product doesn't contain any notable ingredients doesn't mean it's bad. And a product with notable ingredients (or even many) doesn't necessarily guarantee the efficacy of the product performing these effects either. There are other factors such as ingredient quality, concentration and formulation that will ultimately determine this.
Be smart and use this as just a starting point for you to make more informed and smarter choices and compare it with reviews to see if the product is right for you

Ingredient Safety Breakdown refers to the percentage % of ingredients in different risk categories as classified by EWG (Environment Working Group) if they are available. There are almost endless cosmetic ingredients and they are one of the few organisations globally that have assigned ratings to a lot of the more commonly used ingredients which is why we reference them.
EWG is seen by many to be more on the alarmist side in their assignment of health ratings resulting in rating ingredients as riskier than they actually are. We recommend using this a reference point rather than a strict guide of ingredient safety and to always do further research if into ingredients that you may find suspect.
