Ingredient breakdown
INGREDIENTSTriHex Technology® (Tripeptide-1, Hexapeptide-12) Patented BlendProven
Alastin's signature peptide complex combining Palmitoyl Tripeptide-1 and Palmitoyl Hexapeptide-12. Helps clear damaged elastin/collagen fragments and signals the skin to produce new, healthy structural proteins for firmer, smoother eye skin.
- Mechanism: Cell-signaling peptides mimic collagen breakdown fragments, prompting fibroblasts to make new collagen and elastin
- Clinical Data: In a 12-week Alastin study, 100% of subjects agreed eyes looked more youthful and luminous; 90% reported less puffiness and firmer skin
- Target: Crepey eyelids, fine lines, loss of firmness around eyes
Niacinamide (Vitamin B3) ~2-4%Proven
A multi-tasking vitamin that brightens, evens skin tone, strengthens the skin barrier, and reduces the appearance of dark circles caused by hyperpigmentation.
- Source: Multiple peer-reviewed studies confirm anti-inflammatory, brightening, and barrier-strengthening effects at 2-5%
- Benefit: Reduces transepidermal water loss; calms redness; fades dark spots
- Eye Area: Particularly effective on pigmented dark circles and under-eye discoloration
Tetrapeptide-30 Cosmetic LevelPromising
A skin-brightening peptide that targets melanin production. Works synergistically with niacinamide to lighten dark circles and even out under-eye tone.
- Source: In vitro studies show inhibition of tyrosinase activity, reducing melanin synthesis
- Benefit: Targets pigmentation-based dark circles; brightens overall complexion
Albizia Julibrissin (Mimosa Tree) Bark Extract + Darutoside Botanical DuoPromising
A targeted firming duo. Mimosa Tree extract reduces glycation damage (a major cause of skin aging), while Darutoside (from Siegesbeckia plant) boosts skin firmness and elasticity.
- Source: Brand clinical data shows improved appearance of upper eyelid firmness over 12 weeks
- Benefit: Helps reduce sagging and crepiness; smooths under-eye contour
Epigallocatechin Gallatyl Glucoside (Stabilized EGCG) AntioxidantProven
A stabilized derivative of green tea's most potent antioxidant (EGCG). Helps reduce the appearance of dark circles linked to vascular congestion and oxidative stress.
- Source: EGCG is one of the most studied polyphenols; demonstrated anti-inflammatory and microcirculation benefits
- Benefit: Calms puffiness; reduces blue-toned dark circles; fights free radical damage
Sodium Hyaluronate + Beta-Glucan Hydration DuoProven
A multi-weight hydration system. Sodium Hyaluronate plumps fine lines instantly, while Beta-Glucan (from Tremella mushroom) provides deep, lasting moisture and soothes irritation.
- Source: Beta-glucan studies show superior moisture retention versus hyaluronic acid alone
- Benefit: Plumps crepey eyelids; smooths the look of fine lines instantly
Phospholipids + Squalane + Shea Butter Extract Barrier LipidsProven
A barrier-replenishing blend of skin-identical lipids. Reinforces the delicate eye-area moisture barrier and prevents water loss without heaviness.
- Source: Phospholipids and squalane are clinically established barrier-supporting lipids
- Benefit: Soothes; reduces irritation from active ingredients; non-greasy hydration
Silica + HDI/Trimethylol Hexyllactone Crosspolymer Optical DiffusersProven
Light-diffusing polymer microspheres that provide instant optical brightening — softening the look of dark circles and fine lines on application.
- Source: Common cosmetic blurring agents used in high-end eye creams
- Benefit: Immediate visual improvement; primer-like smoothing under makeup

One pump is enough for both eyes. Dispense onto the back of your hand or fingertip.
Apply Around the Eye
Gently pat (don't rub) around the entire eye area: under-eye, outer corners (crow's feet), and upper eyelid under the brow bone. Avoid the lash line and inner eye.
Use Twice Daily
Apply morning and evening for best results. Allow 30-60 seconds to absorb before applying moisturizer or makeup.
Be Patient & Consistent
Initial smoothing is visible immediately. For fine lines and firmness, allow 4-12 weeks of consistent use to see meaningful change.

Budget-friendly alternatives (dupes)
DUPESCombines Matrixyl 3000 peptides, niacinamide, and caffeine in a similarly lightweight format. Lacks the clinical-grade TriHex blend and patented optical diffusers, but covers the same key benefits — firming, brightening, de-puffing — at a fraction of the price.
Loaded with multiple peptides, niacinamide, and caffeine. Comparable peptide diversity but no patented technology, less luxurious texture, and a basic jar (not airless) packaging.
Adds retinol (which Alastin omits) plus peptides and niacinamide. Not retinol-free, so it's not pregnancy-friendly or as gentle for sensitive eyes, but offers stronger anti-aging at a mid-range price.
Focuses on hydration, ceramides, and niacinamide rather than peptides. Excellent for dryness and dark circles caused by dehydration, but lacks Alastin's collagen/elastin-stimulating peptide complex.

Frequently asked questions
FAQThe formula does not contain retinoids, salicylic acid, or hydroquinone — the most commonly avoided pregnancy ingredients. However, it does contain peptides (Palmitoyl Hexapeptide-12, Tripeptide-1, Tetrapeptide-30) that have limited safety data during pregnancy. Most clinicians consider peptide eye creams low-risk, but Alastin recommends consulting your OB/GYN before use during pregnancy or breastfeeding.
No, this is not a fungal-acne-safe formula. It contains several ingredients that can feed Malassezia yeast, including Cetearyl Alcohol, Jojoba Esters, Glyceryl Stearate, PEG-100 Stearate, Polysorbate 20, and Helianthus Annuus (Sunflower) Seed Oil. If you suffer from fungal acne (pityrosporum folliculitis), look for a simpler peptide eye cream without fatty alcohols, esters, or polysorbates.
Yes. The formula is retinol-free and gentle, making it an excellent partner to active routines. It actually helps buffer irritation around the eyes from retinol/tretinoin. Apply your active serum first (Vitamin C in the AM, retinol or AHA/BHA at night), then layer Alastin Eye Treatment on top. Niacinamide and peptides have no known conflicts with these actives.
It's formulated for all skin types but excels for sensitive, mature, dry, and combination skin. It won "Best Eye Cream for Combination Skin 2021" and "Best Eye Cream for Sensitive Skin 2021" by Women's Health. The non-comedogenic, hypoallergenic, fragrance-free formula is gentle enough for the most reactive eyes. People over 30 with early signs of aging will benefit most from the TriHex peptides.
Optical smoothing and hydration are visible immediately thanks to silica and HDI Crosspolymer light-diffusing microspheres. Brighter, less puffy under-eyes typically appear within 1-2 weeks. Per Alastin's 12-week clinical study, 100% of subjects agreed their eyes looked more youthful and luminous, and 90% reported less puffiness and firmer skin. For maximum collagen-and-elastin-driven firming, allow 4-6 months of consistent twice-daily use.
Apply after cleansing, toning, and your face serum, but before face moisturizer and sunscreen. Use it both AM and PM. Dispense one pump and gently pat (don't rub) around the entire eye area: under-eye, outer corners, and upper eyelid under the brow bone. Wait 30-60 seconds for full absorption before applying moisturizer or makeup. Avoid the lash line and inner eye.
No — Alastin officially labels it non-comedogenic. With a comedogenic rating of approximately 1/5, it's safe for acne-prone skin and won't clog pores around the eyes. The formula is specifically designed to avoid pore-blocking ingredients while still delivering rich peptide and lipid benefits. Note that "non-comedogenic" is different from "fungal-acne-safe" — see the FA question above.
The Period After Opening (PAO) is 12 months. The airless vacuum pump significantly extends ingredient stability by preventing oxygen exposure and contamination, so the peptides and antioxidants stay potent throughout this window. With twice-daily use of one pump, the 14.8 mL bottle typically lasts approximately 6-8 weeks (about 1.5 months).
Verdict: Alastin Restorative Eye Treatment is a true medical-grade powerhouse for the eye area. The patented TriHex Technology® delivers measurable firming and smoothing benefits backed by clinical imaging, while the optical diffusers provide instant gratification. It's especially compelling for sensitive, mature, or post-procedure skin where harsher actives like retinol aren't suitable. The premium price and small size are real considerations, but the multi-award-winning formulation, dermatologist endorsement, and gentle profile justify the investment for those serious about long-term eye-area aging concerns.
Product Overview
Quick product notes are a great way to check if a product is free from commonly avoided ingredients by skincare enthusiasts. These preferences come about for different reasons depending on the ingredient such as personal experiences, sensitivities, health preferences & etc.
Just because a product is not free from a common preference does not mean it's a bad product! You can make a personal decision whether or not you want to use a product that contains these ingredients or not - click the labels of the preference to read more about them.
Quick Product Notes
Ever used a product that promised a certain effect but provided no results? It might not have contained any notable ingredients that could have been responsible for that promised effect. It doesn't matter what the marketing or packaging «promises» it can do, if it doesn't contain anything that can help - then the likelihood of it helping is low.
We help you identify key notable ingredients that have been shown to help with effects such as acne-fighting, brightening, UV-protection, wound healing & anti-aging to help you achieve your skincare goals smarter. Please note that different notable ingredients have varying levels of research behind them, some are extremely well proven yet some have mixed research in their efficacy.
Just because a product doesn't contain any notable ingredients doesn't mean it's bad. And a product with notable ingredients (or even many) doesn't necessarily guarantee the efficacy of the product performing these effects either. There are other factors such as ingredient quality, concentration and formulation that will ultimately determine this.
Be smart and use this as just a starting point for you to make more informed and smarter choices and compare it with reviews to see if the product is right for you

Ingredient Safety Breakdown refers to the percentage % of ingredients in different risk categories as classified by EWG (Environment Working Group) if they are available. There are almost endless cosmetic ingredients and they are one of the few organisations globally that have assigned ratings to a lot of the more commonly used ingredients which is why we reference them.
EWG is seen by many to be more on the alarmist side in their assignment of health ratings resulting in rating ingredients as riskier than they actually are. We recommend using this a reference point rather than a strict guide of ingredient safety and to always do further research if into ingredients that you may find suspect.
