SENSORYMicro Blue Exosome Capsules
Capsules 500x smaller than pores burst upon contact to soften and release stubborn sebum and blackhead plugs from deep within the pore lining, proven to cleanse 99.78% of pore-clogging impurities.
Triple Acid Exfoliation (AHA + BHA + PHA)
Mandelic acid (AHA) smooths surface texture and brightens; Salicylic acid (BHA) at 0.45% penetrates pores to control oil; Gluconolactone (PHA) gently exfoliates with added hydration and less irritation.
Amino Acid-Based Cleansing System
Sodium Cocoyl Glycinate and Sodium Lauroyl Glutamate are mild, skin-identical surfactants that cleanse without disrupting the skin's natural moisture barrier, leaving skin soft rather than tight or dry.
9 Plant Extracts for Skin Wellness
White willow bark (natural BHA source), camellia sinensis, centella asiatica, evening primrose, bergamot leaf, and more deliver antioxidant, soothing, and anti-aging benefits with every wash.
Low-Irritation Clinical Formula
Clinically tested at 0.00 irritation score by the Global Dermatological Research Institute. Dermatologist-tested, non-comedogenic, and validated for sensitive skin and acne-prone skin types.
55% Dead Skin Improvement in One Wash
Silica particles provide gentle physical exfoliation while the acid complex chemically loosens dead skin cell buildup, proven to improve skin texture around pores by 6.71% and reduce sebum by 38.5% after a single use.
Safety & compatibility
SAFEContains Salicylic Acid (0.45% BHA). While the FDA generally considers topical salicylic acid safe in low concentrations as a rinse-off product, many healthcare providers recommend caution and limiting use during pregnancy. Always consult your OB-GYN or midwife before use.
This formula does not contain fermented ingredients, fatty acids, esters, or polysorbates that are known to feed Malassezia fungus. The amino acid surfactant base and acid complex are considered safe for fungal acne (pityrosporum folliculitis).
Dermatologist-tested and clinically verified as non-comedogenic. Key ingredients like Hydroxypropyl Starch Phosphate, Coco-Glucoside, and Decyl Glucoside have low pore-clogging potential. Suitable for acne-prone skin.
Listed as "Parfum" on the INCI however the Ulta-confirmed ingredient list uses "Fragrance" — MediCube's official US product listing confirms this is a fragrance-free formula. Suitable for fragrance-sensitive individuals.
No parabens, no silicones, no harsh sulfate surfactants (SLS/SLES). The cleansing base is entirely amino acid-derived, making it significantly gentler than conventional foaming cleansers.
As a rinse-off cleanser, it can generally be used in the same routine as retinol and vitamin C. Since it contains BHA and AHA, avoid layering additional leave-on exfoliants (toners, pads, serums) on the same morning or evening to prevent over-exfoliation.
Clinically tested for 0.00 irritation. However, individuals with a severely compromised moisture barrier or active rosacea should introduce slowly — start with 2–3 times per week before daily use.
All listed ingredients are plant-derived or synthetic with no animal-derived components identified. MediCube products are formulated with cosmeceutical-grade plant actives from South Korea.
Ingredient breakdown
INGREDIENTSGlycerin ~5–8% est.Proven
One of the most well-researched humectants in skincare. Glycerin draws moisture from the environment and deeper skin layers to the surface, maintaining hydration even after rinsing. It helps counterbalance the potential drying effect of exfoliating acids in this formula.
- Function: Humectant, skin-conditioning agent, solvent
- Research: A 2016 clinical study found glycerin outperforms AHAs and hyaluronic acid as a humectant in direct comparison
- Benefit: Prevents post-cleanse tightness; leaves skin feeling soft and bouncy
Sodium Cocoyl Glycinate & Sodium Lauroyl Glutamate ~5–10% est.Proven
The primary cleansing agents in this formula. Both are amino acid-derived surfactants derived from coconut oil and glutamic acid respectively. They produce a creamy, dense foam while preserving the skin's natural acid mantle and moisture barrier — far gentler than traditional sulfate-based cleansers.
- Function: Mild surfactant, foaming agent, skin-barrier-friendly cleanser
- pH: Amino acid surfactants work optimally at a slightly acidic pH (5.5–6.5), making this a true low-pH cleanser
- Benefit: Deep cleansing without the squeaky-clean, stripped sensation of sulfate-based cleansers
Salicylic Acid (BHA) 0.45%Proven
A beta-hydroxy acid (BHA) that is oil-soluble, allowing it to penetrate into sebum-filled pores to dissolve the keratin plugs that cause blackheads and whiteheads. At 0.45%, it sits within the effective range for daily use exfoliation while remaining gentle enough for sensitive skin types.
- Function: BHA exfoliant, pore-clearing, anti-inflammatory, keratolytic
- FDA OTC range: 0.5–2% for acne treatment; 0.45% as a cosmetic rinse-off is within safe cosmetic use
- Benefit: Unclogs pores, reduces blackheads, controls excess oil, calms acne inflammation
Mandelic Acid (AHA) ~0.1–0.5% est.Proven
An alpha-hydroxy acid (AHA) derived from bitter almonds with a larger molecular weight than glycolic acid, resulting in slower, gentler skin penetration. It exfoliates the skin's surface to improve tone, texture, and reduce post-acne marks. Its larger molecule size makes it better tolerated by sensitive skin types than smaller AHAs.
- Function: AHA surface exfoliant, brightening, anti-bacterial properties
- Research: Studies show mandelic acid effective for acne and hyperpigmentation with less irritation than glycolic acid
- Benefit: Smooths rough texture, brightens dull tone, fades post-acne marks (PIH)
Gluconolactone (PHA) ~0.1–0.5% est.Proven
A polyhydroxy acid (PHA) that exfoliates at a slower rate than AHAs due to its larger molecular size. PHAs also have humectant properties, meaning they draw moisture to the skin as they exfoliate — making gluconolactone uniquely suitable for sensitive or dry-combination skin types that find AHAs too stripping.
- Function: Gentle exfoliant (PHA), humectant, antioxidant, chelating agent
- Research: Clinical studies show PHAs provide comparable exfoliation benefits to AHAs with significantly less irritation and photosensitivity
- Benefit: Smooths texture, hydrates as it exfoliates, reduces sun-sensitivity risk versus AHAs
Salix Alba (White Willow) Bark Extract traceProven
White willow bark is the natural source of salicin, which metabolizes into salicylic acid on the skin. It provides supplementary BHA-like activity to the synthetic salicylic acid in this formula and delivers additional anti-inflammatory and antioxidant tannins.
- Function: Natural BHA source, anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, astringent
- Benefit: Complements synthetic SA for enhanced pore-clearing; soothes irritation
Silica ~0.5–1% est.Proven
Finely milled silica particles act as a mild physical exfoliant to buff away surface dead skin cells, complementing the chemical exfoliation of the acid complex. Silica also provides the formula's characteristic slip and contributes to the smooth, polished skin feel post-wash.
- Function: Mild abrasive exfoliant, texture agent, mattifying
- Benefit: Physically removes dead skin buildup from pore openings; contributes to 55% dead skin improvement claim
Camellia Sinensis Leaf Extract (Green Tea) traceProven
Rich in EGCG (epigallocatechin gallate) and polyphenol antioxidants, green tea extract neutralizes free radicals generated by UV exposure and pollution, and provides mild anti-inflammatory properties that help soothe post-cleanse redness in acne-prone or reactive skin.
- Function: Antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, sebum-regulating
- Research: Multiple peer-reviewed studies confirm green tea polyphenols inhibit 5-alpha reductase activity, reducing sebum production
- Benefit: Reduces inflammation, protects from environmental oxidative stress, helps control oil
Tocopheryl Acetate (Vitamin E) traceProven
A stabilized, esterified form of Vitamin E that delivers antioxidant protection and skin-conditioning benefits. It helps neutralize free radical damage and supports the skin's lipid barrier, contributing to a non-stripping post-cleanse feel.
- Function: Antioxidant, skin-conditioning agent, barrier support
- Benefit: Protects skin from oxidative stress; soothes irritation; leaves skin soft
Dextrin, Zea Mays Starch, Microcrystalline Cellulose, Mannitol, Sucrose encapsulant blendPromising
This combination of plant-derived polysaccharides, starches, and sugars forms the shell material of the micro blue exosome capsules. They are biodegradable, skin-safe encapsulants that protect the active exosome payload during storage and burst upon massaging, releasing the contents directly onto the skin.
- Function: Capsule encapsulant, texture agent, mild exfoliant (cellulose)
- Benefit: Ensures targeted delivery of Centella asiatica exosomes and other actives deep into pores
Gardenia Taitensis Callus Extract tracePromising
A stem cell-derived plant extract from Tiare (Tahitian Gardenia) cells, used in cosmetics for its antioxidant and skin-brightening properties. Callus extracts are created through biotechnology and are rich in polyphenols and flavonoids that support skin radiance and protection from oxidative damage.
- Function: Antioxidant, brightening, skin-conditioning
- Benefit: Supports a clearer, more radiant complexion; antioxidant defense
Pueraria Montana Root Extract (Kudzu Root) tracePromising
Rich in isoflavones (puerarin, daidzein) and flavonoids, kudzu root extract is used in Korean cosmeceuticals for its antioxidant and mild phytoestrogenic properties. It is noted in traditional Korean medicine for skin-brightening and anti-aging applications.
- Function: Antioxidant, skin-brightening, soothing
- Benefit: Contributes to the formula's anti-aging and brightening benefits

Where it fits in your routine
ROUTINEUse as a second-step cleanser after an oil cleanser or cleansing balm (double cleansing). Can also be used as a standalone morning cleanser. Since it contains BHA and AHA, avoid using additional leave-on exfoliants (e.g. AHA/BHA toning pads) immediately after on the same session.
How to use
HOW TO USEWet Your Hands and Face
Splash lukewarm water on your face to open pores slightly and prepare the skin for cleansing. Avoid hot water as it can strip the skin's natural oils.
Dispense and Lather
Squeeze a small, hazelnut-sized amount onto your palm. Rub hands together with a few drops of water to build a rich, creamy lather. You'll see the characteristic blue micro-capsules in the foam.
Massage Gently in Circular Motions
Apply the lather to your face and massage gently for 30–60 seconds in circular motions. Spend extra time on pore-prone areas such as the nose, chin, and forehead. The capsules will burst and release their active contents as you massage.
Rinse Thoroughly
Rinse off completely with lukewarm water. Ensure no residue remains, especially around the hairline and jaw. Pat dry with a clean, soft towel — do not rub.
Follow with Your Routine
Proceed immediately with your toner or essence while skin is still slightly damp to maximize hydration absorption. If used in the morning, always follow with SPF 30+ as BHA/AHA can slightly increase photosensitivity.

Skin type compatibility
SKIN TYPESIdeal for oily skin. The BHA and AHA complex dissolves excess sebum, the amino acid surfactants deep-clean without over-stripping, and silica helps mattify. Sebum reduction of 38.5% has been clinically observed.
Perfect for combination skin. Targets oily T-zone pores and blackheads effectively while the glycerin and PHA component keeps drier areas balanced and comfortable post-cleanse.
Highly recommended for acne-prone skin. Salicylic acid penetrates clogged pores, the formula is non-comedogenic and fungal acne safe, and the exosome capsules help clear impurity buildup at the source of breakouts.
Clinically tested for 0.00 irritation. The amino acid base and PHA are gentle, but those with highly reactive skin should start 2–3x weekly to assess tolerance before daily use. The BHA and AHA may cause initial sensitivity.
Suitable for dry skin as an AM cleanser or gentle PM cleanse, but those with very dry or dehydrated skin may find the BHA/AHA slightly drying with daily use. Follow with a rich, hydrating toner and moisturizer. Use 2–3x per week rather than daily.
Works beautifully as both a maintenance and preventive cleanser for normal skin. Keeps pores clear, skin texture smooth, and provides daily low-level exfoliation to maintain a bright, even complexion without disrupting balance.

Budget-friendly alternatives (dupes)
DUPESAlso BHA-based with amino acid surfactants, gentle low-pH formula. Lacks the exosome capsule technology, AHA/PHA triple-acid complex, and plant extract blend of the MediCube. Simpler formula with solid daily pore maintenance results. No capsule texture experience.
Popular K-beauty BHA cleanser with Heartleaf extract for pore care and anti-inflammatory action. Lower BHA concentration and no AHA/PHA combination. Good for sensitive skin but fewer multi-acid exfoliation benefits. Similar price, slightly larger 150ml size.
Offers the same AHA+BHA+PHA triple-acid approach but as a leave-on toner rather than a cleanser. Combined with a basic gentle cleanser, this achieves a similar exfoliation outcome at a lower total cost. However, it requires two products to replicate what the MediCube delivers in one step.

Frequently asked questions
FAQThis product contains Salicylic Acid (0.45% BHA). The FDA classifies topical salicylic acid as Pregnancy Category C — meaning it has not been sufficiently studied in pregnant humans, and animal studies have shown potential concerns at high systemic doses. For rinse-off products at low concentrations (under 2%), many dermatologists consider the risk minimal, but most healthcare guidelines recommend erring on the side of caution. Many OB-GYNs advise pregnant individuals to limit or avoid BHA use. Always consult your obstetrician, midwife, or dermatologist before using BHA-containing products during pregnancy or while breastfeeding. Consider switching to a pure amino acid cleanser without active acids during this time.
Yes — this product is considered fungal acne (pityrosporum folliculitis / malassezia) safe. The formula does not contain fermented ingredients, fatty acids (lauric, myristic, palmitic, stearic acids), esters of fatty acids, or polysorbate emulsifiers that are known to feed Malassezia yeast. The amino acid surfactant base and salicylic acid component are actually beneficial for fungal acne-prone skin. The plant extracts used are not fatty-acid-rich oils. This makes it a strong choice for anyone managing both bacterial acne and fungal breakouts simultaneously.
As a rinse-off cleanser, it is generally compatible with the rest of your routine including retinol and vitamin C. Since it is washed off, significant ingredient interactions are unlikely. However, because this cleanser already contains AHA (Mandelic Acid) and BHA (Salicylic Acid), you should avoid using additional leave-on exfoliants — such as AHA/BHA toning pads, glycolic acid toners, or BHA serums — in the same session, as this can lead to over-exfoliation, barrier disruption, redness, and sensitivity. If you use a strong retinoid (tretinoin, prescription-strength) nightly, consider using this cleanser in the morning only and using a plain gentle cleanser at night to avoid stacking too many actives.
This cleanser is best suited for oily, combination, acne-prone, and normal skin types. It is particularly ideal for those with enlarged pores, blackheads, excess sebum, and uneven texture. It can be used by sensitive skin types (clinically tested for 0.00 irritation) but we recommend starting at 2–3 times per week and gradually building up to daily use. Dry or very dehydrated skin types should use this sparingly and always follow with a rich hydrating toner and moisturizer, as the BHA component can contribute to dryness over time. It is not primarily designed as a hydrating cleanser for those whose main concern is dryness.
Many users notice an immediate improvement in skin cleanliness and texture after the very first wash — the clinical data supports 99.78% pore impurity removal and 55% dead skin cell improvement in a single use. For more significant visible pore refinement, blackhead reduction, and improved skin tone, most users notice clear results within 2–4 weeks of consistent daily use. For long-term benefits such as fewer breakouts, faded post-acne marks, and persistently smaller-looking pores, allow 2–3 months of regular use. Consistency is key — daily use produces the best cumulative results.
This product is used as your facial cleanser — either as a standalone morning cleanser or as the second step in a double-cleansing routine (after an oil cleanser or cleansing balm to remove sunscreen and makeup). Always use cleanser as the first active skincare step before toner, essence, serum, moisturizer, and sunscreen (SPF is especially important in the morning when using BHA/AHA). For a complete MediCube Zero Pore routine, pair with the Zero Pore Pad (treatment toner pads with BHA) for enhanced results.
No — this product is dermatologist-tested and certified non-comedogenic, earning a low comedogenic rating of 1 out of 5. The formula is free from heavy oils, waxes, and high-comedogenic emollients. The key cleansing agents (Sodium Cocoyl Glycinate, Coco-Glucoside, Decyl Glucoside, Lauryl Hydroxysultaine) are all low-comedogenic and gentle. Additionally, the Salicylic Acid actively works to keep pores clear by dissolving the keratin buildup that causes clogs. This cleanser is specifically designed to unclog pores rather than block them.
The product has a PAO (Period After Opening) of 12 months as indicated on the packaging. In terms of physical quantity: the 120g tube typically lasts approximately 4–6 weeks with daily use (AM + PM), or up to 2–3 months if used once daily. A hazelnut-sized amount is sufficient per wash. Store in a cool, dry place away from heat and direct sunlight to preserve the integrity of the exosome capsules and active acid ingredients throughout the PAO period.
Verdict: TheMediCube Zero Pore SA Clear Capsule Cleansing Foam is an impressive cosmeceutical-grade K-beauty cleanser that punches well above its weight class. The combination of a gentle amino acid surfactant base, a clinically effective triple-acid exfoliation system (AHA + BHA 0.45% + PHA), and the signature micro blue exosome capsule technology creates a uniquely comprehensive daily cleansing experience. Clinically proven results — 99.78% impurity removal, 38.5% sebum reduction, and 55% dead skin cell improvement in a single wash — are backed by the Global Dermatological Research Institute. For those dealing with blackheads, enlarged pores, excess oil, or uneven skin texture, this is a standout single-product solution that delivers multi-step exfoliation benefits within a daily cleanse. Highly recommended for oily, combination, and acne-prone skin types. Those who are pregnant or breastfeeding should consult their healthcare provider before use due to the salicylic acid content.

Quick Product Notes
Ever used a product that promised a certain effect but provided no results? It might not have contained any notable ingredients that could have been responsible for that promised effect. It doesn't matter what the marketing or packaging «promises» it can do, if it doesn't contain anything that can help - then the likelihood of it helping is low.
We help you identify key notable ingredients that have been shown to help with effects such as acne-fighting, brightening, UV-protection, wound healing & anti-aging to help you achieve your skincare goals smarter. Please note that different notable ingredients have varying levels of research behind them, some are extremely well proven yet some have mixed research in their efficacy.
Just because a product doesn't contain any notable ingredients doesn't mean it's bad. Ingredient Safety Breakdown refers to the percentage % of ingredients in different risk categories as classified by EWG (Environment Working Group) if they are available. There are almost endless cosmetic ingredients and they are one of the few organisations globally that have assigned ratings to a lot of the more commonly used ingredients which is why we reference them.
EWG is seen by many to be more on the alarmist side in their assignment of health ratings resulting in rating ingredients as riskier than they actually are. We recommend using this a reference point rather than a strict guide of ingredient safety and to always do further research if into ingredients that you may find suspect.
