Reedle Shot 100
Reedle Shot 100
Product Description
Product overview
Korea's viral "Step Zero" skin booster powered by patented Cica Reedle™ spicule technology — micro-sized silica particles 14x thinner than pores that gently exfoliate dead skin cells, visibly minimize pores, and dramatically boost the absorption of every product that follows. Enriched with Triple Hyaluronic Acid, Centella 4X Complex, Green Propolis Extract, and a 17-amino-acid complex to simultaneously repair, soothe, and deeply hydrate — all in one nightly ritual.
Cica Reedle™ Spicule Technology
Proprietary micro-particulate silica + Centella Asiatica blend forms needle-like structures 14x thinner than pores. These exfoliate dead skin cells and create micro-channels for dramatically deeper absorption of all subsequent skincare.

SENSORYCica Reedle™ Spicule Technology
Proprietary micro-particulate silica + Centella Asiatica blend forms needle-like structures 14x thinner than pores. These exfoliate dead skin cells and create micro-channels for dramatically deeper absorption of all subsequent skincare.
Triple Hyaluronic Acid (Cicahyalon™)
Three different molecular weights of Hyaluronic Acid — large (surface hydration), medium (mid-layer plumping), and small (deep dermal hydration) — combined with Centella Asiatica and Green Propolis for 360° moisture care.
Centella 4X Complex
Full-spectrum Centella Asiatica extract combined with four active centella compounds — Asiaticoside, Madecassoside, Madecassic Acid, and Asiatic Acid — for potent soothing, barrier repair, and anti-inflammatory action.
Niacinamide (~2%)
Evidence-backed multi-tasker that minimizes pores, regulates sebum, fades hyperpigmentation, and strengthens the skin barrier. At approximately 2%, it effectively supports tone-evening and barrier care without irritation.
17-Amino Acid Complex
A full suite of skin-identical amino acids — Glycine, Serine, Lysine, Arginine, and more — acting as natural moisturizing factors (NMFs) to reinforce the skin barrier and support cellular repair overnight.
Adenosine (Anti-Aging)
Clinically proven anti-wrinkle ingredient that promotes collagen synthesis and skin elasticity. FDA-recognized for wrinkle reduction, making this booster a multi-functional anti-aging treatment alongside its exfoliation benefits.
Safety & compatibility
SAFEVT Cosmetics states Reedle Shot contains no known harmful ingredients and is generally considered pregnancy-safe. However, the spicule delivery system can enhance penetration of other products. Always consult your OB-GYN or midwife before use during pregnancy or breastfeeding.
The formula contains Macadamia Ternifolia Seed Oil, Ethylhexyl Palmitate, and Sorbitan Oleate — all fatty acids or esters that can feed Malassezia yeast and trigger fungal acne flares. Those with confirmed fungal acne should avoid this product or consult a dermatologist.
Clinically confirmed non-comedogenic by VT Cosmetics. The formula is oil-light with a comedogenicity rating of 1/5, making it suitable for acne-prone skin. The spicule technology actually helps remove pore congestion over time.
Clinically tested and hypoallergenic. The Cica Reedle™ spicules cause a normal tingling sensation upon application — this is expected. Those with very reactive or compromised skin should start once weekly and build tolerance gradually.
No direct incompatibilities exist per VT's official FAQ. However, because spicules temporarily enhance ingredient penetration, stacking with strong actives (high-% retinol, AHAs, BHAs) on the same night may intensify irritation. Start with Reedle Shot alone, then layer actives once your skin has built tolerance.
Do not use with LED masks, RF devices, or other heat/light-emitting tools — this can cause severe irritation. Avoid for at least 2 weeks following professional dermatological procedures such as lasers, peels, or injections.
Free from added fragrance (parfum), essential oils, denatured alcohol, parabens, sulfates, and silicones. Well-tolerated by fragrance-sensitive individuals.
Reedle Shot 100 is formulated for PM use. The micro-exfoliation and open delivery channels can increase photosensitivity, so always apply SPF 30+ the following morning. Daytime use is possible for the Mild 50 variant only.
Ingredient breakdown
INGREDIENTSCica Reedle™ (Silica + Centella Asiatica) Proprietary BlendHero Ingredient
The star technology of Reedle Shot. Micro-particulate silica combined with Centella Asiatica extract forms spicule-like structures that are 14 times thinner than skin pores. These act as a physical micro-exfoliator, creating micro-channels through the stratum corneum to dramatically improve ingredient penetration — similar to professional microneedling but gentle enough for daily home use.
- Mechanism: Physical micro-exfoliation via silica spicules; creates temporary microchannels in the stratum corneum for enhanced transdermal delivery
- Size: Particles are 14x thinner than pores — able to reach deeper epidermal layers without causing macroscopic skin damage
- Clinically tested: VT Cosmetics has clinical data supporting skin absorption improvement and acne improvement claims
- Dissolve timeline: Spicules dissolve naturally within 48–72 hours; tingling during this period is normal
Centella Asiatica Extract + Centella 4X Complex Mid-RangeProven
Full-spectrum Centella Asiatica paired with its four bioactive compounds — Asiaticoside, Madecassoside, Madecassic Acid, and Asiatic Acid. This comprehensive complex delivers potent anti-inflammatory, wound-healing, and collagen-stimulating benefits that counterbalance the micro-exfoliation activity of the spicules, calming and repairing skin simultaneously.
- Asiaticoside & Madecassoside: Triterpene glycosides proven to accelerate wound healing, reduce redness, and promote collagen Type I synthesis
- Madecassic Acid & Asiatic Acid: Anti-inflammatory aglycones that inhibit inflammatory cytokines and support barrier function
- Research: Multiple peer-reviewed studies confirm topical centella compounds reduce inflammation and accelerate epidermal barrier repair
Sodium Hyaluronate (Triple HA) ~0.25–0.45%Proven
The Cicahyalon™ complex incorporates three sizes of Hyaluronic Acid to hydrate at multiple skin depths: large-molecular HA forms a surface film reducing transepidermal water loss; medium HA plumps the mid-epidermal layers; and low-molecular Sodium Hyaluronate penetrates more deeply to hydrate from within. Combined with the spicule delivery channels, absorption is significantly enhanced compared to standard topical HA serums.
- Mechanism: HA can hold up to 1,000x its weight in water, acting as a powerful humectant across all epidermal layers
- Enhanced delivery: Cica Reedle™ channels allow even large-molecular HA to penetrate beyond the stratum corneum barrier
- Barrier support: Helps maintain the skin's lipid matrix in a healthy, hydrated state
Niacinamide (Vitamin B3) ~1.7–2.1%Proven
One of the most evidence-backed skincare actives. At approximately 2%, Niacinamide in Reedle Shot 100 targets pore appearance, sebum regulation, surface hyperpigmentation, and barrier reinforcement — complementing the exfoliation benefits of the Cica Reedle™ spicules. The spicule channels further enhance its already strong skin penetration.
- Pore minimizing: Studies at 2–5% show measurable reduction in visible pore size after 8–12 weeks
- Brightening: Inhibits melanosome transfer between melanocytes and keratinocytes, reducing dark spots
- Sebum control: Shown to reduce sebum excretion rates, particularly benefiting oily and acne-prone skin
- Barrier: Increases ceramide and free fatty acid production to strengthen the skin barrier
Propolis Extract (Green Propolis) PresentPromising
Derived from bees, Propolis is a resinous compound rich in flavonoids and phenolic acids with well-documented antimicrobial, anti-inflammatory, and antioxidant properties. In the context of Reedle Shot 100, it works synergistically with Centella to calm post-exfoliation sensitivity and protect against environmental oxidative stress.
- Antimicrobial: Studies show propolis inhibits Staphylococcus aureus and P. acnes, reducing acne-causing bacteria
- Wound healing: Flavonoids in propolis accelerate tissue repair and reduce scar formation
- Antioxidant: High DPPH radical scavenging activity protects skin from oxidative damage
17-Amino Acid Complex Full NMF ProfileProven
A comprehensive Natural Moisturizing Factor (NMF) amino acid complex including Glycine, Serine, Glutamic Acid, Aspartic Acid, Leucine, Alanine, Lysine, Arginine, Tyrosine, Phenylalanine, Threonine, Proline, Valine, Isoleucine, Histidine, Methionine, and Cysteine. These skin-identical molecules reinforce the skin barrier, attract water, and support cellular repair mechanisms overnight.
- NMF role: Amino acids naturally found in the stratum corneum regulate skin hydration and barrier integrity
- Barrier repair: Glutamic acid and serine are key components of the corneocyte protein matrix
- Collagen precursors: Glycine, proline, and lysine are essential building blocks for collagen synthesis
Adenosine PresentProven
An endogenous cell-signaling molecule with clinically demonstrated anti-wrinkle efficacy. Recognized by regulatory agencies as an effective anti-aging cosmetic ingredient, Adenosine promotes collagen and elastin production, improves skin firmness, and has anti-inflammatory properties that complement the post-exfoliation soothing action of the formula.
- Wrinkle reduction: Clinical studies show topical adenosine significantly reduces depth and number of fine lines after 8 weeks
- Collagen boost: Stimulates fibroblast activity, increasing Type I and Type III collagen synthesis
- Anti-inflammatory: Activates A2A receptors to suppress pro-inflammatory cytokine production

Where it fits in your routine
ROUTINEApply Reedle Shot 100 as your very first step on freshly cleansed skin — before toner, serum, or moisturizer. This "Step Zero" positioning maximizes ingredient absorption for every product applied afterward. Always follow with SPF the next morning. Do not combine with Reedle Shot 300 or 700 on the same night.
How to use
HOW TO USEDouble Cleanse (PM Only)
Begin with a thorough cleanse — ideally an oil cleanser followed by a gentle foam or gel cleanser — to remove SPF, makeup, and excess sebum. Reedle Shot 100 must always be applied to bare, clean skin. Pat dry gently; do not rub.
Dispense 1–3 Pumps
Pump an appropriate amount into your palm or fingertips. Start with 1 pump if you are new to spicule products — your skin will tingle and you can increase gradually. 2–3 pumps covers the full face for most users.
Massage & Roll Into Skin
Spread evenly across the face, then gently roll and massage the product into the skin using circular motions. This rolling motion is key — it helps the Cica Reedle™ spicules penetrate effectively. Avoid the eye and lip areas. A mild to moderate tingling sensation is completely normal and indicates the product is working.
Press & Pat to Finish Absorption
Once massaged in, firmly press your palms against your skin to complete absorption. Allow 30–60 seconds for the emulsion to fully absorb before proceeding. Do not rinse off.
Layer Your Remaining Skincare
Apply your toner, serum, and moisturizer as normal. The spicule channels created by Reedle Shot dramatically enhance absorption of everything applied next. This is the key synergy that makes it a "booster" product. VT's Synergy Repair Cream pairs especially well.
Build Frequency Gradually
Begin with 2–3 nights per week and increase to daily use as your skin adapts. After consistent daily use for 6+ months, some users take a 2–3 week break to reset sensitivity. Never combine with Reedle Shot 300 or 700 on the same evening.
Who is it for?
WHOPerfect for you if:
- You have rough, bumpy, or uneven skin texture
- You want an at-home microneedling alternative on a budget
- You're dealing with enlarged pores, mild acne scars, or dullness
- Your skincare isn't absorbing as well as you'd like
- You're a beginner to skin-renewal treatments (great entry point before higher strengths)
- You want a multi-action product: exfoliator + hydrator + barrier repairer in one
- You have normal, oily, combination, or mildly sensitive skin
- You prefer fragrance-free, paraben-free formulas
Consider alternatives if:
- You have confirmed fungal acne (Malassezia folliculitis) — formula is not FA-safe
- You have open wounds, active eczema flares, or severely compromised barrier
- You are pregnant or breastfeeding without medical approval
- You use LED masks or heat-based devices in your routine
- Your skin is hypersensitive to all tingling sensations — try Mild Reedle Shot 50 first
- You require a daytime exfoliation treatment — this is a PM-only product at Reedle 100 level
- You had a professional dermatological procedure within the last 2 weeks
Skin type compatibility
SKIN TYPESLightweight emulsion absorbs without leaving greasiness. Niacinamide (~2%) helps regulate sebum over time. Pore-minimizing spicule action is particularly visible on oily skin types.
Triple HA and amino acid complex provide solid hydration, but very dry skin may need a richer moisturizer on top. The Reedle Shot 300 (used every 3 days) may cause over-exfoliation on dry skin — stick to 100 daily.
Ideal candidate — addresses both oily T-zone congestion and dry patches simultaneously. The balancing formula works well across different zones without over-stripping or over-loading.
Centella 4X and propolis offer soothing benefits, but the spicule-induced tingling can be intense for very reactive skin. Always patch test; start at 1x per week and build slowly. The Mild Reedle Shot 50 is a safer starting point for hypersensitive skin.
Non-comedogenic formula with clinically confirmed acne improvement. Propolis offers antimicrobial benefits. Expect initial purging as spicules help clear congestion — this typically subsides within 2 weeks.
Adenosine addresses fine lines and firmness, while spicule delivery enhances absorption of anti-aging serums layered after. For more intensive anti-aging focus, the VT Collagen Reedle Shot 100 variant may offer additional collagen-stimulating benefits.

Budget-friendly alternatives (dupes)
DUPESSame spicule-based microneedling category with a higher spicule concentration (7,500 PPM vs. Reedle Shot 100's lower count) plus exosome technology and AHA+BHA+PHA combo. More potent than Reedle Shot 100 but closer in strength to Reedle Shot 300. Slightly pricier but well-reviewed.
Budget-friendly spicule serum with a pink tone from Vitamin B12, focused on pore minimizing and brightening via niacinamide. Similar tingling sensation and delivery mechanism. Smaller 30ml size but competitive pricing. Less comprehensive soothing complex than Reedle Shot's Centella 4X formula.
Features 1,000 PPM spicules combined with PDRN (Polydeoxyribonucleotide) — a DNA repair ingredient popular in Korean dermatology. Particularly suited to sensitive and acne-prone skin. Less soothing complex vs. Reedle Shot's Centella 4X but adds the PDRN regeneration angle. Good alternative for those also interested in PDRN skincare.

Storage & shelf life
12 MONTHS12 months after opening. The preservative system (Ethylhexylglycerin, Caprylyl Glycol, 1,2-Hexanediol) provides good stability, but the spicule particles can degrade if exposed to high temperatures or direct sunlight repeatedly.
Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and heat sources. Do not store in steamy bathrooms or near windows. Ideally keep between 15–25°C (59–77°F). Can be stored in the refrigerator for a soothing cooling effect upon application.
Housed in a silver metallic pump bottle (50ml). The pump dispenser maintains hygiene and controls dosage precisely. Pump mechanism prevents contamination compared to open jars. The opaque bottle protects light-sensitive ingredients.
Yes — at 50ml / 1.69fl oz, it meets the TSA 3-1-1 carry-on liquid rule (under 100ml). The secure pump lid prevents leakage during travel. A great addition to any travel skincare kit.
Frequently asked questions
FAQVT Cosmetics officially states that Reedle Shot 100 contains no known harmful ingredients and is formulated without retinoids, salicylic acid, hydroquinone, or chemical sunscreens — all substances that are typically restricted during pregnancy. The brand states their products are generally safe during pregnancy, but importantly recommends consulting your healthcare provider or OB-GYN before use. The spicule delivery mechanism can temporarily enhance skin penetration, which is an additional consideration during pregnancy. Our recommendation: mark this as a "consult your doctor" item and err on the side of caution during the first trimester.
No, Reedle Shot 100 is not considered fungal acne safe. The formula contains three ingredients that can feed Malassezia yeast: Macadamia Ternifolia Seed Oil (high in oleic acid, a primary Malassezia food source), Ethylhexyl Palmitate (a fatty acid ester also known to trigger fungal acne), and Sorbitan Oleate (an oleate-based emulsifier). If you have confirmed Malassezia folliculitis or have experienced fungal acne breakouts in the past, it is best to avoid this product and consult a dermatologist for alternatives. The Isntree Aloe Soothing Shot is a gentler, generally FA-safer alternative for exfoliation support.
VT Cosmetics states there are no direct ingredient incompatibilities with Reedle Shot. However, because the Cica Reedle™ spicule technology temporarily creates micro-channels in the skin that enhance penetration, using strong actives immediately after — such as high-percentage retinol, undiluted vitamin C, glycolic acid, or salicylic acid — can significantly increase their strength and potential for irritation. Best practice: use Reedle Shot 100 as Step Zero, then wait for full absorption (30–60 seconds), and apply your actives afterward at normal concentrations. Start slowly and monitor your skin's response. Many users successfully combine Reedle Shot 100 with a retinoid in their PM routine with excellent synergistic results — the key is going gradually.
Reedle Shot 100 performs best for oily, combination, and acne-prone skin types — these skin types see the most dramatic visible improvements in pore size, texture, and sebum regulation. Normal skin responds very well with consistent brightening and smoothing. Dry skin benefits from the Triple HA hydration but may need a richer moisturizer layered on top. Sensitive skin can use Reedle Shot 100 but should start very slowly (once per week) and consider the Mild Reedle Shot 50 as an even gentler entry point. The formula is not suitable for those with active fungal acne, severely compromised barriers, or open wounds.
Most users notice smoother, more refined skin texture the very next morning after first use. Within 1–2 weeks of consistent use, glow and overall skin luminosity improve noticeably. Visible pore reduction and early tone-evening typically appear at the 3–4 week mark. Hyperpigmentation, acne scars, and fine line improvements are generally visible after 2–3 months of regular use. Glass skin results are typically reported after 4–6 months of daily consistent use. Note: some users experience an initial purging phase (especially acne-prone skin) in the first 1–2 weeks as spicules help clear congestion — this is normal and should subside.
Reedle Shot 100 is designed as your "Step Zero" — the very first product applied after cleansing, before toner, essence, serum, or moisturizer. This positioning is intentional: the spicules create micro-channels that dramatically enhance the absorption of every product layered on top. Your PM routine should be: (1) Cleanse → (2) Reedle Shot 100 → (3) Toner → (4) Serum / Actives → (5) Moisturizer. Always apply SPF 30+ the following morning. Do not use with Reedle Shot 300 or 700 on the same evening. Do not use immediately before or after LED masks or heat-emitting devices.
No — Reedle Shot 100 is clinically confirmed non-comedogenic by VT Cosmetics, with an overall comedogenicity rating of 1 out of 5. While the formula contains Macadamia Ternifolia Seed Oil (comedogenicity rating 2) and Ethylhexyl Palmitate (rating 1–2), their concentrations in the formula are low relative to the water-dominant base, and the overall formula has been tested and confirmed non-pore-clogging. In fact, the spicule exfoliation mechanism actively helps clear pore congestion over time. Many users with acne-prone skin report fewer clogged pores and blackheads after consistent use.
Reedle Shot 100 has a Period After Opening (PAO) of 12 months. At the recommended daily use of 1–3 pumps per night, a single 50ml bottle typically lasts 4–8 weeks depending on the amount dispensed per use. Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and high temperatures to maintain the efficacy of the Cica Reedle™ spicules and the active ingredients. The opaque silver pump bottle protects the formula from light degradation. The product is also available as a refill pouch through Daiso in Korea for a more economical ongoing option.
Verdict: VT Cosmetics Reedle Shot 100 earns its viral status as one of the most innovative and accessible K-beauty products of recent years. Its patented Cica Reedle™ spicule technology delivers a genuine microneedling-adjacent experience at home, and the comprehensive formula — Triple HA, Centella 4X Complex, Niacinamide, Adenosine, and 17 amino acids — makes it far more than a one-trick exfoliator. The consistent user-reported results, Korea's Best Cosmetics 2024 Grand Award, and remarkable value at ~$21 for 50ml make it an easy recommendation for anyone seeking smoother texture, minimized pores, and dramatically improved skincare absorption. The primary caveats are its incompatibility with fungal acne-prone skin and the need for a thoughtful, gradual introduction for sensitive skin types. For oily, combination, and acne-prone skin looking to achieve glass skin at home, Reedle Shot 100 is an exceptional starting point in a scalable, well-engineered product line.
Product Overview
Quick product notes are a great way to check if a product is free from commonly avoided ingredients by skincare enthusiasts. These preferences come about for different reasons depending on the ingredient such as personal experiences, sensitivities, health preferences & etc.
Just because a product is not free from a common preference does not mean it's a bad product! You can make a personal decision whether or not you want to use a product that contains these ingredients or not - click the labels of the preference to read more about them.
Quick Product Notes
Ever used a product that promised a certain effect but provided no results? It might not have contained any notable ingredients that could have been responsible for that promised effect. It doesn't matter what the marketing or packaging «promises» it can do, if it doesn't contain anything that can help - then the likelihood of it helping is low.
We help you identify key notable ingredients that have been shown to help with effects such as acne-fighting, brightening, UV-protection, wound healing & anti-aging to help you achieve your skincare goals smarter. Please note that different notable ingredients have varying levels of research behind them, some are extremely well proven yet some have mixed research in their efficacy.
Just because a product doesn't contain any notable ingredients doesn't mean it's bad. And a product with notable ingredients (or even many) doesn't necessarily guarantee the efficacy of the product performing these effects either. There are other factors such as ingredient quality, concentration and formulation that will ultimately determine this.
Be smart and use this as just a starting point for you to make more informed and smarter choices and compare it with reviews to see if the product is right for you

Ingredient Safety Breakdown refers to the percentage % of ingredients in different risk categories as classified by EWG (Environment Working Group) if they are available. There are almost endless cosmetic ingredients and they are one of the few organisations globally that have assigned ratings to a lot of the more commonly used ingredients which is why we reference them.
EWG is seen by many to be more on the alarmist side in their assignment of health ratings resulting in rating ingredients as riskier than they actually are. We recommend using this a reference point rather than a strict guide of ingredient safety and to always do further research if into ingredients that you may find suspect.
