No ingredient known to feed Malassezia, the yeast behind fungal acne — the same screen as our fungal acne checker. Ferments and fatty alcohols, which the checker marks “possible”, are allowed. Product not here? Check it yourself — paste its ingredient list.
Zinc oxide and/or titanium dioxide as the only UV filters, no chemical (organic) filter in the list — read the same way as the sunscreen card on each product page.

Fungal acne (Malassezia folliculitis) is driven by a yeast that feeds on fatty acids and the oils, butters, esters, polysorbates and lecithin made of them. A product is on this list only when none of its ingredients is one of those triggers — the same screen as our fungal acne checker, applied to the full ingredient list rather than the label claim. Ferments, fatty alcohols (cetyl, cetearyl) and squalene, which the checker marks “possible”, do not exclude a product.
No. A fungal-acne safe product only avoids feeding the yeast. Fungal acne itself is treated with antifungals such as ketoconazole or clotrimazole, usually on a doctor's or pharmacist's advice; these sunscreen are what to use alongside without making it worse.
Its UV filters are zinc oxide, titanium dioxide or both, and nothing else: no avobenzone, octocrylene, homosalate, octinoxate, oxybenzone or the newer organic filters such as Tinosorb or Uvinul. A product with zinc oxide plus even one organic filter is a hybrid and is not on this list. We read the full ingredient list, not the front of the pack.
Neither is better for everyone. Mineral filters sit on the skin, start working at once and rarely sting eyes or irritate, which is why they suit sensitive and post-procedure skin; they can leave a white cast and feel heavier. Modern chemical filters are lighter and clearer on deep skin tones. Both protect when applied generously and reapplied.
