The Parfums MDCI batch code is a short, usually embossed stamp of letters and numbers — never the barcode. Here’s what it looks like on typical packaging (the code is the short embossed stamp, not the long barcode):
On a Parfums MDCI bottle the batch code is etched or printed on the glass underneath, or on a small sticker on the base; on the box it is on the bottom flap or the back — near the barcode but separate from it — a short code of 4 to 10 letters and numbers. On a genuine set the code on the box and the code on the bottle are the same. Decants and testers usually carry only the bottle code.
Parfums MDCI doesn't publish how its batch codes work, and we have never been able to read one. Under EU rules a batch number doesn't have to contain a date at all. Use the pack instead: a printed "best before end" date, or the PAO open-jar symbol telling you how many months it lasts once opened.
Most unopened cosmetics and fragrances keep for about 30–36 months from manufacture. Once opened, follow the PAO (open-jar) symbol — it usually matters more than any printed expiration date.
Can the batch code tell me if my Parfums MDCI is authentic? Not on its own. A code that decodes to a sensible date, printed the same on the box and on the bottle, is a good sign, but counterfeiters copy real codes from genuine packs, so a valid code cannot prove a Parfums MDCI product is authentic. Buy from Parfums MDCI or an authorised retailer, and compare the packaging, print quality, sprayer and cap fit with one you know is genuine.
Yes — like all cosmetics and fragrances, Parfums MDCI products have a limited shelf life. Unopened they typically last 30–36 months from the manufacture date, and the batch code above tells you how old yours already is. After opening, the PAO (open-jar) symbol — e.g. "12M" — is a better guide than any printed expiration date.
