This is my 2nd bottle of this cleansing oil. After I bought this I realized it contained olive oil which had previously broke me out so I was a bit concerned. I started using it anyway and I've used it since then. I use Julep as my first cleanser because I double cleanse. It's very hydrating and leaves my face soft and moisturized not tight or stripped. I love the pleasant scent of grapefruit oil extract which is not strong and disappears rather quickly. It's part of my 7 step skincare routine that has cleared my acne and I had 1 blemish in the last month which used to be 2 large closed comedones at all times.
The only bad thing I can think of is the cost so I'm always on the lookout for a cheaper replacement.
I've been using this product since it first came out from Julep. I currently use it as my first-step cleanser at night, and if I feel I need to cleanse in the morning, this is also what I reach for. Due to the standard retail price, I've tried to find other formulas, but none work as well as this one does. I have fairly dry, slightly dehydrated skin and live in a usually very dry climate (technically high desert). Some cleansing oils I've tried still feel stripping on my skin, burn my eyes, or feel really ineffective. This leaves my skin feeling clean and moisturized at the same time, which makes it perfect in the morning. It also leaves enough oil on my skin so that when I go in with my second cleanser, I'm not going in with a totally dry base. Somehow though, it removes almost all of my makeup, including waterproof mascara- and again, no burning in my eyes.
When I first made the switch to this, it was my only cleanser, and after about two weeks I noticed my skin feeling much more "normal" and foundation sat better on my skin. I find that when I stop using this now (out of laziness, usually, or when I'm trying a new first-step cleanser), my skin starts feeling tighter and dryer almost instantly.
This does have some citrus in it, which I've heard is negative for people with sensitive skin. That said, I haven't noticed it irritating my skin at all, and I find the scent is very pleasant personally.
